My aunt and uncle did something similar for me and my cousins once we reached an old enough age that we just got money or a gift card but still young enough to actually get a gift. We all had a puzzle that we had to solve before we could get our gift. Usually it was a puzzle game/brain teaser type thing but the worst was one year my cousin had to piece together a letter that went through a paper shredder haha.

Reminds me, in a more gruesome example, of the movie 127 Hours. Aron Ralston heading out for a quick trip to hike, as an afterthought grabbed the cheap fake Leatherman tool. Within hours he was using it to gnaw away at his arm's flesh and bone and really wishing he'd taken the time to grab something with a better blade. Gift a good Leatherman, Gerber, SOG, etc instead of the cheap ones at the Home Depot checkout. 💁🏼♂️

You could still separate them, but wrap it up in either an empty toilet paper rolls or empty paper towel rolls and wrap those up. Makes it fun and they usually play with it right after.

I used to do this for Easter baskets, too! Probably not all rhyming but definitely tried to make it interesting!

😅 sorry for me it still felt like Christmas eve when I posted and it was a last minute tip that I found useful, didn't notice until after I posted this that it was 2am on Christmas day. Could always bring it over to next year's Christmas though.

In general, if someone is passionate about something that you aren't gifts pertaining to that thing are dicey.
My wife spins wool into yarn, which she weaves on her looms, or makes into socks with her knitting machine. The number of skeins of hobby lobby yarn and Wal-Mart knitting supplies that she's gotten as gifts are staggering. She won't use any of that stuff.
I drink tea. A lot of tea. I generally get loose leaf from the tea seller in our town, and spend a fair bit of time discussing my selections with the guys that run the place. That box of Bigelow holiday sample teabags isn't going to light up my day.
We appreciate the effort and the thought, though!

My guess is that the light interior to your vehicle there basically causes your pupils to close up a little bit. Which is for many people will actually make their vision sharper.

Of course, the gift card method is just a very easy backup. I had to use it a few years ago before using 2 factor was so common.

I come from a large family, 8 children. One year money was evidently very short. We got a few small gifts on Christmas. A week later, after everything went on sale, we were woken up early with the call to "second Christmas". Our parents gave us lots of gifts just a little late. It became the favorite Christmas because we had 2 that year, and got lots of toys. It wasn't until we were adults that we learned about the real reason for second Christmas. It didn't tarnish the great childhood memory of the year we had 2 Christmases, in fact reinforced the love our parents felt.

It’s definitely a good idea but I can’t help but think of some little shit head saying after the hunt “all that for this?”
That would hurt my feelings as a parent lol

I immediately liked this post because my best memories were not the presents itself but realizing how much time and effort my mom put in for our presents growing up!
