I think nuance is also really important and something our society seems to be losing.
Everyone wants everything black or white in 140 characters or less.
Some ideas are just bigger than that.

I have a huge family and not everyone in my family (adults) could afford to get gifts for everyone. If we were to place gifts in front of the giver - I think this would totally single out a few people and make them feel bad for not having gifts to hand out to everyone. Just overall not a good idea for my family.

Depends a lot on the family. Some people are really anxious about how others react to their gifts or afraid they won't react appropriately, in that case everyone being distracted with their own presents helps. If you have children that still believe in Santa, this is a bad idea for obvious reasons.
Do it if you think it works, bur thing about the implications!

“fully read” would save a word. Also, “Keep things brief” is unnecessary as it’s covered by “concise.” Funny that OP can’t follow their advice. 😅

I absolutely see where you are coming from, it really is a fair argument. And of course there are plenty of worries you can’t simply turn off, however, some worries you can. If you’re up for it, read: Man’s search for meaning by Victor Frankl. It’s about a psychiatrist that was captured and brought into a concentration camp in WW2. There he used his time to observe the human will for meaning during the worse of times. One of the top psychology books ever written! Not my opinion. Its ranked #1 in that category.

One I learned a long time ago. If you are in a high crime area at a stoplight, leave room in front to drive away, even if you have to pull onto the sidewalk. Try not to be boxed in
