Hi! Thanks for doing this! I have two questions if you don’t mind.

I was recently diagnosed with SIBO, which was affecting my day to day life so much. I did a round of antibiotics and that helped, but I feel like it is coming back. What can I do to help my gut maintain less bacterial overgrowth?

Is there anything within the gut that can exasperate fatigue and what can I do to help it give me more energy?

Hello! Thanks for the AMA, I have some questions for you guys,

. Can a healthy gut help in having clear skin? I've seen people who eat pretty unhealthy food but have clear skin while I who only ocassionaly eats unhealthy have acne (both hormonal and bacterial)

. How true is "dont drink milk after eating fish" and "no soft drinks after eating fruits". I'vr heard both from various people. Also are there more such combinations of food best not eaten together?

. Why would a clindamycin gel for your face cause diarrhoea?

. Is it ok to eat eggs every day?

. You know how sometimes a random part of your stomach or chest starts hurting? I guess most of those are harmless but what part of your stomach should you be concerned about if it randomly starts hurting.

Sorry if the questions are too trivial. Have a great day!

Hi /u/Other_Exercise,

Sorry to hear about your situation, but the fact that you once had something that helps is hopeful!

To start, Asian restaurant soups will often use as base something called "miso" paste, which is a fermented food and can benefit your digestion. In addition, there is preliminary evidence that seaweed can be quite beneficial for the human microbiome.

Other ways to improve your gut microbiome health is again via adding fermented foods, such as kombucha, kefir, yogurt, kimchi, to your diet. Fermented foods contain live, beneficial bacteria that can lead to improvements in your gut microbiome. In addition, they contain a lot of compounds formed through the process of fermentation that are beneficial to you and the bacteria already in your gut.

I hope this helps you start towards better digestion, best of luck !

Hi guys, I'm a fellow IBD researcher. Just wanted to say hello, thanks for doing this and ask: what's your take on the translocation oral microbes to the gut? Namely, P. gingivalis, H. parainfluenzae, and A. actinomycetemcomitans. Are we missing something? Well I know the physicians are missing it but as researchers, why is this often overlooked? After all we're just a big digestive donut.

Hi /u/draegs,

Great question. There is some evidence around the probiotic VSL no. 3, which consists of 8 different probiotic bacteria. Some small clinical trials have suggested this probiotic helps prevent pouchitis in adult patients, although further larger studies are needed to better assess the probiotics efficacy.

There is also evidence for other probiotics such as: the De Simone Formulation, Bifidobacterium longum, Clostridium butyricum MIYAIRI. However, keep in mind many of these studies are done on very low amounts of individuals. So it is best to wait for studies with larger amounts of people before we can say for sure that these probiotics prevent pouchitis.

Thank you for tuning in today.

I have terrible digestion, always have. I nowadays eat more soup, which helps, but the only thing that really seemed to cure it was a chinese restaurant soup, in a country I lived in years ago.

I couldn't tell you the recipe or ingredients, only that it involved stuff like sea weed and fungus. Are there some things I can eat that would help my presumably poor gut health? Appreciate this isn't medical advice, more lifestyle pointers!

To people who have training in secret societies, we have learned they must announce their intentions, it can be sarcastic, hidden in placmne sight or whatnot. being true spiritual rule or not, it's some kinda of spiritual rule to them.

I watched the film, Dinesh also has a spirituality that prevents him from telling an intentional lie.

As someone with a J-pouch, I am always looking for ways to improve my chances of not triggering a bout of pouchitis. Any recommendations on probiotics, supplements, etc that have proven success in maintaining bacterial symbiosis? Or foods to avoid?

Hi /u/PeanutSalsa,
Great question. There is definitely a mix of factors driving this increasing frequency of gluten allergies.

One theory is that the increase in the prevalence of gluten allergy is due to changes in the wheat that is grown today.

Another theory is that the increase in gluten allergies is due to the increased consumption of processed foods that contain gluten. For example, we see a much higher level of gluten allergy in Asian immigrants in the west. Before moving to the west, many people's diets consisted of much less gluten. It is therefore possible that the high level of gluten in the Standard American Diet is not compatible with many people's bodies.

Lastly, as with many diseases like cancer and autism, we have simply gotten better at diagnosing things and see them for what they are. So it may not be that there's a growing amount of the allergy, but that we are simply better at detecting it.

Thank you !

The definition of micro dosing is that it is such a low dose that there are *zero" acute effects. If you are having stimulation, visuals or any other effects it was too large an amount and no longer micro-dosing. Therefore micro-dosing would be totally safe to drive on because you should not be inebriated or intoxicated in any way.

Donot take them by yourself. Psychedelics donot work in absence of therapy. Therapy is an umbrella term. Therapy is you figuring out what's going on with you, your fears, anxiety, likes dislikes, compulsions obsessions AND then figuring a plan to address them.

Psychedelics are just tools to aid that. A blunt tool at that too.

Yep. Basically Decrim Nature is advocating for peyote legalization without regard for the objections of the Native American Church. Wild Peyote is extremely important for so many American Indians, but it only grows in a somewhat limited range and is becoming scarce for several reasons. The Native American Church basically doesn't want peyote legalized and then have peyote populations decimated by psychedelic tourism. I mean peyote is a huge lifeline for so many American Indians and it's wild to think they'd risk losing access to their sacred plant because of reckless legalization.
