I can't stand how bad things aren't caused by divine power, but good things always are. All the people pulling survivors out of the rubble of the earthquake in Turkey were praising God for each survivor, but nobody was asking why God allowed a million others to die horribly in terror.
Things do work out sometimes, and we need to try to keep our chins up and hope for and work toward better days. You don't need divine intervention to do those things.

Ah, you made a statement. Lemme dive deeper into that statement. What's this reason you speak of? Something you can actually articulate? Or just a faint idea

I wouldn't consider this cooky bullshit to be an effective tool for motivation, especially not beyond the immediate short term.

I'm a student worker with a past I'm not proud of, and this marine who works in the office always talks about how "nobody changes", and it seriously puts me on the verge of a panic attack.
Sort of irrelevant, but I seriously hate that mindset, if I believed that, I'd have killed myself already.

Also, butterflies just give the appearance of looking great. Everything else could be terrible

Nothing is going to apply to literally everyone. That doesn't mean that it isn't true and useful for the vast majority of people to hear... Comments like this are like somebody posting "if you get a cut you should rinse out the wound, put ointment on it, then apply a bandage", and you replying "oh yeah? Don't think a bandage is about to help with someone's arm being chopped off or somebody getting impaled. Awful advice"

I'm not sure on the first 3 of those things at all. All are perfectly reasonable and sometimes even necessary things to do

It does all happen for a reason the mistake is thinking you're a main character or protagonist of a universal story. Life is like a long album with good and bad songs

I feel this. Like being in a comfortable, but ultimately unhappy relationship. The change is rough and youâll âemotionally bleedâ for a while, but sometimes itâs for the best.

Right? This is one of those quotes that absolutely needs context, or is otherwise objectively wrong.

You know, I had a situation like this in the Army. I grew up as an Army brat, and we moved around quite a bit, including several deployments to Germany and Italy, the last one being Stuttgart where I graduated high school.
After I graduated and we were back in the US, I joined the Army and went to Basic in Ft. Jackson SC, and AIT in Ft. Gordon GA. At the end of AIT, we were all getting our permanent duty station assignments, and the vast majority of us were getting stationed to Berlin Brigade. At the time (1988), it was still walled in, East Germany still existed, and all that.
Many of these guys I went to basic and AIT with had never left their home town before, and were now being told that they were getting stationed to a walled-in city, that is completely surrounded by the Communist enemy halfway around the world. There were several guys CRYING like they were being deployed to front-line trenches in WWII. Me, being the worldly traveler that I was at 19 laughed and explained that despite what they THOUGHT, they were in for the time of their life, that Berlin was a VERY cool and modern city and that it was going to be, to paraphrase, "fucking incredible."

People tend to forget that to change, you sometimes have to give up something (I like the story of Odin giving an eye and bled for 9 days for knowledge) or completely break yourself down.
