Not to be a bummer because I agree with the sentiment of this post, but try telling this to all the inventors and business owners who do something completely unique and have their ideas stolen (and popularized) by someone else. History isn’t thanking you for being the first to do something if it’s immediately stolen from you.

Well, unfortunately you're right; but for me this is just a reminder of how I've made efforts in metrics that are in my control (with mental health, physical health and overall progress) This was just a way to tell myself this, because when I do see how far i have yet to go, i tend to lose sight of how far I've come.

I know there are others who keep beating themselves up because they couldn't get to where they are as it's easy to forget that you take baby steps to get there when it takes time.

A few things that came to mind: "Doing stuff isn't how people change. It's what it looks like after you change" - Dr. K

"Even the deceleration of a bad thing, is progress" - CGP Grey, In his video about new years and themes.

I don't find this to be true. Although lying to yourself could be useful in keeping your morale up.

I mean some people just keep getting worse at things.

Other people try to get better from cancer and just fucking die.

You should be grateful you're alive at all. Failure is just what happens along the road of success. And most things you'll never have time to succeed at. So you should just appreciate the time you have it all. Failure is a fucking gift

This person is the best, and knows it.

This person is their personal best, but doesn’t know it

This person believes they’re the best, but is an amateur.

We are the same, you and I.
