I’m not convinced that you need to get motivated here because motivation is fleeting and throughout the past few years you’ve gotten traction but have bailed. I wonder if the problem isn’t getting motivated but staying motivated, or just being OK not being motivated but doing what you need to do anyway. Understanding for example that you might need to work somewhere and find things you enjoy at work or skills you’re building while acknowledging it’s not perfect, and using spare time to pursue passions like DJing or EDM production.

That sounds like a psychiatrist. And they probably just did it for depression. You have to tell your healthcare providers (including psychiatrists) what you need - “evaluate me for ADHD”. The hallmark of adult ADHD is career switching, and unable to focus on stuff you don’t like - which you exhibit. You can also find a therapist to refer or behavior mod - again insurance company portals by specialty is how that’s done. Also, your general doctor can align you with either of these. I can’t do it for you, dude - you have to make this first step.

I've been resisting the urge to be a horrible human being. I've been resisting the urge to punch an orphan. I've been resisting the urge to steel a wheelchair. I've been resisting the urge to take the air out of my bosses car. I've been resisting the urge to demotivate everyone on a motivational sub reddit. I've been resisting the urge to wish. I was creative enough to write a stupid poem out of nowhere. Also be harsh and tell if I can add anything to this stupid shit. If you guys will be too harsh I will cry myself to sleep tonight. Just so you know.

Then you quite possibly have it. One of the difficulties with diagnosis is often, and especially in the past, that people were reportedly compared to the typically disruptive boys who could not sit still or perform tasks at all, and if you weren’t one of them then apparently you didn’t have it. Nowadays it’s more recognised (but still has a long way to go) that not all people with ADHD present like that, and often (but not always) females present differently compared to that male stereotype. (For the record males too can differ from that stereotype.)

The two biggest limiting factors for diagnosis and treatment these days are seeing the specialist: 1) the time and 2) the money that go with assessing and finding the right treatment (should someone decide with their psychiatrist to go down that path.). This is where talking with family and friends, researching, and talking with your GP or psychologist can also help, to help you find the right decision for you. And if you have a diagnosis but are confused about whether or not medication is a good idea, sometimes a leap of faith (also called a trial of medication) will be useful. Maybe with a diary beforehand so you can compare your thoughts and feelings off medications and then on medications.

I hope, whichever path you take, you find the help and solace you need 👍

Edit: just another bit of info.

Honestly, I never claimed that I "figured out" that nobody figures it out in the first place.

I'm simply saying that people shouldn't set this expectation of success for themselves as portrayed in the comic as having a solved Rubik's cube.

Life is so vastly complex beyond anything we can comprehend. Whether it's your role in society or existentialism. There is some value to being more comfortable with the idea of not grasping life's meaning, if there is one. It's an impossible task because at the end of the day, nobody truly has any idea what is going on.

I know I'm getting into philosophical territory but that's how I viewed it. There isn't anything contradictory with acknowledging what I've said above imo.

Edit: to add. You really can figure that out in the same sense that we all have illusions at a young age that adults have things figured out. And as we get older we realize people across all walks of life are just like us, figuring it out.

I hope it’s late 30s because I’m 25 and this makes me envious haha. It’s not stupid to want a goal. Maybe you could try learning a new skill or something fun you’ve always wanted to do or never really considered. Maybe like learning a new language, painting, rock climbing, yoga.
