That is a legitimate idea and one that could work. The problem is that once you start, you can't stop. If nations did that unilaterally, it takes the impetus off of states who aren't making CO2 cuts/sequestrations to continue with business as usual.

Not really. The bigger problem is that the number of objects launched into space is increasing very rapidly. Making sure that these will return to ground faster is the most important thing.

Hope not. Covid was an absolute cluster fuck of bullshit measures that did nothing but make big pharma $$$$$.

If the leaders who are promoting climate change aren’t doing anything personally to fight it, it’s hypocrisy plain and simple.

Most operational satellites do for station keeping in order to maintain the proper orbit and to move them out of the orbit after their useful life so other satellites can take their place. Depending on the orbit some are deorbited and come back to earth; otters are boosted up into orbits that aren’t used.
The issue is everything in orbit is technically a satellite and there’s are tons of junk up there from rocket bodies and formerly operational satellites to debris of all types including from Russia blowing up one of their satellites a year or two ago, leaving hundreds of pieces of various sizes orbiting the earth. All of which need to be tracked to so as to avoid collisions with objects currently in space (ISS and other satellites) or to be launched (you don’t want to lose a $1B satellite by launching into a debris cloud.

Recent advancements in AI research such as the emergence of ToM-like abilities in language models, suggest that we are making progress towards AGI (artificial general intelligence). Emergent abilities are a fascinating aspect of complex systems like LLMs and the development of ToM-like abilities in language models is a remarkable achievement. The ability to understand and attribute mental states to oneself and others has long been considered a uniquely human ability, so the emergence of ToM-like abilities in language models is a significant breakthrough.
The increasing language skills of language models may have led to the emergence of ToM-like abilities, demonstrating the potential for artificial intelligence to possess human-like cognitive abilities.

This only works when is actively making new buildings or homes. The amount of time that takes is massive. The vast majority of bars and homes are not going to get rebuilt in that short a period of time.

Robots that cook full meals are extremely limited in what they can do right now and the field is not progressing that quickly.

Not really. AI-Bars are pretty hip and you can already have robots that cook full meals.

Dramatizes? Because he uses terms such as "suicidal", when it's a perfect analogy for how we are self harming with our excessive pollution.
It sounds more like you're upset you can't stay ignorant anymore and have been forced to stare the inconvenient truth in the face. It should absolutely shock and affect peoples behavior, because it's not some fake propaganda or a Mayan' doomsday prediction, it's an inevitable fact, and the best solution we have right now is to try our best to work together to mitigate its effects.

Yeah relax, sit down and take a deep breath. Nothing is gonna be done. I am sick and tired of us average people being terrorized and made feel guilty while we are doing what we can, while those rich mofos and those who have power to change things for good, do nothing at all. At this point, fuck it. To hell with it. We are all in the same boat, at the end of the day. If they don't care, I'll stop caring too.

We will change the physical world to accommodate them.
For example, we have robot vacuums in our house. There's certain floor layouts and things we owned that didn't work well with the robots.
So faced with the choice of sweeping ourselves every night or changing the rooms to be more robot friendly, we changed the rooms.

While defending this idea, some will say "They laughed at Einstein".
I will note however, they also laughed at Bozo the Clown.
I predict the results will be declared to be murky enough that he says a refined experiment will be required. And again, and again...

Pumping sulfur dioxide into the upper atmosphere could be done unilaterally, cheaply, and quickly.
It’s a last ditch effort, but it’s results would be immediate and global.
