My point is there's nothing reserved for the Billionaires, Multimillionaires. Which is what most people think of when we talk about gene editing/longevity therapies in the future.
Yeah the people in poor countries will probably never afford it because they already lack basic Healthcare level unfortunately.
But alot of people in this sub act as if new advances in therapy will be only for Billionaires.

Awful state of affairs obviously but weird use of the word ‘unprecedented’, but I guess you see it a lot nowadays. Every single day will have unprecedented levels of plastic in the oceans on the assumption that it’s still making its way into them.

there wont be new jobs at least not to the extent to replace old ones
why would you value human work more when AI can do it 1000+x better and 1000+x cheaper...I mean in context of hiring someone, you could value human art more for example for "authenticity" not that it would be better

I'm the furthest thing from knowledgeable about anything to do with computers really, but as far as I can tell, it seems like most people, not just the layman but the leaders in these industries and systems that are going to start incorporating it into their businesses and research practice, all seem to be struggling to treat AI with an appropriately objective attitude. I understand how big of a hurdle it is to accurately comprehend and predict the characteristics of distinctly non human consciousness because our frame of reference isn't comparable and we're the only ones making an effort to understand the consciousness of non humans.
I'm not just trying to criticize or bash anyone, I certainly don't have the ability to wrap my head around it, but I just can't imagine AI ever behaving and thinking in a way that would be reliably recognizable to us, kind of in the same way it doesn't make much sense to assume we'd be able to comprehend or relate to an Allen life form. One of the most popular alien theories is based around the idea that they would want to use us or our resources for something, but to me that seems like expecting birds and fish to want to ride people or build cars, only way further removed and unfamiliar.
Sorry I'm kind of rambling and a lot of this is probably real dumb, but it's the best I can muster lol

I would ask it to track my health and my mother's, making sure that we are always in a healthy state and that either of us can be alerted if something happens.
I would also have the assistant brain help me in finding new side-jobs since I do need the money. Would also have it plan out future things to learn and help me in taking up any hobbies like subsistence farming (it could automatically determine best way to plant, detect if there are any issues, and offer help).
Might also use it to help me write out the ideas I have for novels/fanfics/games. Once we get personalized AI, I have the feeling that customized games will be somewhat possible...
I will then ask it to help with being more sustainable in terms of energy and water usage. Help me with proper recycling too, since my country's disposal system is literal trash.
What would I call it? Probably would just name it Prosperity since that's what I wish for myself and everybody around me.

That’s a good thing. I would like to see, if you want to put something up there, you need to remove something first. If you can’t afford to, to bad you don’t get to.

well it was just by accident, I have done iq tests in the past and I was wondering how it would score on it. At first I thought it was crazy smart, but when I made that numeric sequence it showed pretty quickly it isn't that smart.
Because it was able to recognize in other numeric sequences positions of numbers, so this should actually be a pretty easy numeric sequence.
It couldn't see it, but still, it was able to understand it when I explained it.

When will we finally realize the producers of plastics are responsible for this mess? No matter what we do individually the more plastic produced means more plastic in our dirt and water. It’s fucking everywhere. And the government wants to blame us for it. Bollocks.

Other countries know that, and they still send it to Philippines anyway. They don't want recycling. They want a fall guy.

Also, how do you square "upper middle class" with not being wealthy? I definitely consider them wealthy. Frankly even poor Westerners are wealthy beyond belief compared to a significant portion of the planet. Where do you draw the line?
Medicine/healthcare has always started by being available to those who could afford it, and eventually become more widespread. This is no different. It's insane to expect it to work any other way because the development costs have to be paid somehow.

Because we know so little about some of our underlying motives. I’d call mine ‘Specktor’ because it could listen to what others say, understand their perspective and present to me what they cannot present themselves. 👌

I like your ideas. Especially the first one is something I've given some thought in the last couple of years. If everybody had a pod they could sit in, and all pods were connected to a central AI managed network, everybody could go anywhere from their home, and would be able to use the transport time effectively, and everyone would be safe. So a central pod-network, a bicycle path-system and a pedestrian walk-system, all 3 of them seperated from each other, and everybody would be happy.

I wonder what the scrap value would be.

Even the non recyclable plastics, what are they doing outside of a landfill? We did our part, we put it in the trash or the recycling. What did you guys do with it next? Don't be pointing fingers back at us!

It may be a long time until the likelihood is considered high, but it could happen at any time in a domino fashion. That’s why they track every piece they can, but errors happen.

well I had a conversation with chatgpt about the similarities between human intelligence and machine learning and it kinda said the same but if you look at how human intelligence develops it is actually quite similar, the major difference is in the programming and the sensory input, but also the processing power.
That creates vastly different results, and since it is not biological I would not consider it alive either, or have a soul so to speak.
But it terms of reasoning, it defenitely can reason and that is quite revolutionary. I wouldn't go as far to say it has awareness or consciousness, but it certainly produces something that look similar to the outside world.
In the mind itself , it's just bits and bytes though, meaning it's basically just a calculator, that's pretty much what any computer is, but this calculator is so advanced it can mimic a type of consciousness.
