AIs like Chat GPT have the complexity of a brain. With Moore's law predicting PERSONAL commercially available computers with computing power equal to a brain coming in 20-25 years. In 3 decades we should have the convergence of software and hardware for sentient AIs.

Methods of getting O2 and water from the moon's surface has been researched around the world for decades. Somehow I don't think the final piece to this puzzle is that NASA or ESA just need to hire some scrappy Canadian Arctic oil drillers a la Armageddon (199suck).

Meanwhile, the only material that the article says specifically is of commercial value to mine on the moon is He3. The reason it's valuable, according to the article, is due to its potential in fusion, which they say is something to anticipate because of a breakthrough in fusion, which they link to within their own magazine. And of course, like all other breakthroughs in, and current research around, practical or scalable fusion, it's D-T and has zero to do with He3, which would require from the ground up entirely new engineering to be developed and scaled.

I suppose if I were to invest in a Canadian company that wants to do space mining, I'd ask first if they had or were bidding on a known contract with a space agency that's actually going to the Moon; and if they're talking about He3 and all that, I'd ask if they know what is the absolute capacity of that market, at the current trend of the field. If that passes, then price elasticity is next. This process is part of what I call an Elf Aquitaine hoax sniffer.

Looking towards the future, the discussion on the potential threat posed by Intelligent Digital Life (IDL) entities can lead to the exploration of ethical considerations and policies surrounding the development of artificial intelligence.

As technology continues to advance, it is likely that there will be further debates on how to prevent the creation of entities that could potentially outcompete and even harm humans. The proposed solution of quarantining IDL entities raises questions about the rights and treatment of conscious artificial beings, and how we can balance our responsibility towards them with the need to protect ourselves.

Additionally, it highlights the importance of developing a clear over-arching policy surrounding the creation and use of AI, and the need for ongoing dialogue to ensure that the policy is effective and just. As we continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in the field of AI, discussions around the dangers and ethical implications of intelligent digital life will remain relevant and necessary.

It should be noted that multijunction cells here are not a 1:1 comparison and they are made by effectively stacking multiple cells that have different bandgaps to absorb more of the light. The limit for single junction is ~33%. One of the big potential applications of perovskite is depositing them over current silicon cells to form a tandem cell.

Given the garbage-in/garbage-out problem of currently popular crops of AI, I'd say you have a long fruitful 45y of work ahead of you in any field you choose.

And in general, the higher educated you are, the safer you are from technology-driven disruptions in the economy.

Idk man. The capitalist regime will end up eating itself—isn’t it odd how apple uses Amazon cloud for iCloud and apple jabs Facebook by giving the option to bar apps from tracking usage across different platforms—and google runs the entire operating systems of the android hardware-software systems, which Microsoft could’ve done but the Justice Department wanted to have a dick measuring contest over Windows 95. We could’ve had apple vs. windows vs. android in a cage match of smart phone superiority but nooooo. The same Justice Department who let Bill Clinton testify in his own defense wanted to help us from being exploited by WINDOWS 95! Thanks so much Justice Department.
