There is method to the madness, it really depends on the design

I wish I could use them. I always struggled with my right eye though and anytime it got windy it would bother the hell out of my eyes

I was a lobbyist on left leaning issues and now work in sales for a gov contractor so I maybe can't control it but can influence potentially.

And just like how no-one gives a crap about AI chess, but still care about human chess players, no-one will care about AI writers.

It’s awesome, but a bone marrow transplant isn’t a feasible option unless I get leukemia. If I get leukemia, you bet your ass I’m gonna get the transplant from somebody that is immune to HIV.

Yes, but to replicate those signals you would have limit your idea of AI to just simulated brains, which are much more inefficient. While that may be an experimental path, it makes no sense for researchers or developers to restrict themselves to a much worse solution from a processing power stand point just to emulate the processes that happen in human brains

Consciousness?
Conciseness is brevity which makes sense too, kind of.

no, ai is not connected to the universe in the way that a living being is. we are not computers. ai's emotion is just simulated. don't get bamboozled. some of you are gonna love the metaverse.

In the real world, birth rates are plummeting as populations urbanize. Most countries are facing demographic crashes over the next couple decades, and very low birth rates after that. Anti-aging could save economies and retirement systems.

And I view that opinion about quality to be so short sighted. Like, it’s quality today, the technology has functionality been around for what, a year? If we don’t think it’s going to improve, then we’re crazy. I mean, it’s already secretly winning art competitions. That’s quality production

Assuming it would be at an equivalent of 20-40 years old, I would LOVE to live indefinitely. There is just so much to do. Imagine having virtually infinite time to learn languages to read books in their original tongue, to travel the world, build your own house by hand, take up art mediums or musical instruments and become world class, and on and on.
Gosh, I can think of thousands of years worth of activities I would love to indulge in! And by the time I’m done doing those things, imagine how many more things there would be?

Unfortunately, I fear my parents (70’s) are too old. I’m probably borderline to reach escape velocity. I just hope my kids will be able to get me at a high energy/reasonably healthy state through their parenthood period.

AI wins art contest in Australia, even the judges couldn’t tell it was AI generated. Right up there with top quality images. So much for all of it being garbage; or is the very best we can do also garbage?

And it really still is, because they copy from existing material, but they don't think for themselves. Current AI is more capital A artificial like cheese whiz and not really capital I intelligent like humans are. It is impressive how well it imitates things, but the key thing is that it only imitates and it doesn't make anything that doesn't exist already. Maybe one day we will have true AI that will surpass humanity, but that really isn't ChatGPT or Midjourner lol.
