I got banned on Reddit for not being supportive of people negligent with dogs and children to the point of attempted manslaughter / murder. I've seen what makes you cheer, your booing mean nothing to me.

We already could become sustainable in a lot of ways and choose not to because of capitalism. You cant ask shareholders to suffer loses for 5 years while you transition so all planning is about short term profits. AI wont help with that

You're confusing species with race. The dog equivalent of our human problem is breed. Dogs have different breeds, just as human have different races. That's not a great way to look at it, but you get the idea. I do think that humans should better understand that the difference between races is not as great as the similarities. We have much more in common than we have different, and I think if we focused on the similarities rather than trying to fix the differences, the world could be a better place.

The irony of this is that it's incompatible with a static or declining population. This is why China's economy is about to pop. Their population dropped by 100 million last year. Japan and Russia have this problem as well, though China is in far worse shape because of the 1-child policy.

It'll happen to the US and Europe a while after and then it'll happen everywhere else.

Market economies don't like static or declining populations.

It’s truly not an extreme, it’s just the way it will be. I wish there was a middle solution because then there wouldn’t be a problem. But tell me, in all your experience with other people, do you really think that the rich elites wouldn’t end up benefitting the most from GMO babies? Do you think that we would offer free DNA testing for everyone’s gametes? There’s just no way. If you do believe that humans would be fair and let everyone have designer babies, then I hope that you’re right about us.

So if you were to construct a robot that looks like a human and has the same abilities, i.e it can rotate and extend its limbs the same way, then given enough data it could learn to move like a human the same way ChatGPT can talk like a human. > > The input for this would be a video footage and software that can identify limb movements. An easy way start would be to tape a factory line where human workers do some kind of repetitive movements. Next thing you know, we could have robots doing dishes and mopping the floor! Add ChatGPT-like abilities and it will be able to talk as well. > > What do you think?

We simply have to focus on what we know until we find other examples of life. Think of it like a puzzle, you start with the edges and work in but also keep your eyes out. These instruments can detect a wide range of light, if there is something that doesn’t make sense right away we will surly investigate it more. We can and will do both, it’s just not the primary mission. A telescope to only look for something completely foreign and unknown is unlikely to get funding.

Why do scientists keep looking for planets similar to earth to find extraterrestrial life? I think it is rather selfish of us as a species to expect life to only exist in earth like conditions. Perhaps life in another form is much more common then we are. I am all for science and hope this project is succesfull and finds interestings things. But i do hope humanity would broaden its mind on what the definition of life entails.

Well if you think of the possible outcomes this will foster more competition and higher rates of depression and suicide especially if they do not have other things to fall back on. Maybe work on making education better and cheaper as it doesn’t sound like more students being unable to afford studying or just missing a scholarship is going to result in good times.
