Very common mistake, I thought the same for a long time. Bridal Veil falls is a bit towards the right of the pictures. It's a bit taller and has a power station on the top. You can't see it from downtown

Sunday was the best. The Monday before last was pretty spectacular as well. I heard from some friends in Fairbanks that there were some decent lights last night, but like you, we got hit with snow- so cloud cover prevented any show.

This is a super specific reference but this looks like the last scene from fantasia 2000.

Was camping here this week until just this morning (as the supposed snow moved in). Poppies are completely stunning! This state has some of the most randomly beautiful places I have ever been.

I'd like to add that the colours are kinda like neon lights, different molecules will give different colours. Upper atmosphere isn't uniform across the globe, so northern areas tend to get different colours than southern. That said, energetic particles come into the atmosphere further, so when that happens in the north, you can get all the colours

I'm in Whitehorse and didn't know there were good lights out. Granted was cloudy last night as we got more snow again last night

McHugh was for sure what I was thinking too. The whole arm is killer for photos for those not in the know.

I moved to central Alaska last year and I've seen the lights quite a few times and they aren't always as vivid as photos, but that night was SO vivid to the naked eye. They were extremely bright.

Beautiful. Someone posted Lake Ray Hubbard from Rockwall the other day, too. I recently moved out of DFW, so it's kinda surreal to see familiar place names here.

I automatically scour the banks for a good spot to go camping. Any game trails over there? Time to get the fishing pole out. Wow, that looks really shallow in this area. Guess I've been spoiled by Muskegon river.

Can't describe how much I want to see the Northern Lights. I spent 10 days in Alaska with overcast every night. Saw nothing. Some day.

little pools like this can find a bunch of small baby fish swimming around, awesome to get to see so close up, deeper parts of the river or during a non dry seasons, we catch countless trout out of this river
