I recently went through a climbing movie phase and I am not a climber.

I want to recommend the movie Valley Uprising (2014). It's a feel good doc about the history and legends of climbers that have inhabited the valley and how the culture evolved to what it is today.

Another recommendation of a movie about a climber that is even more extreme than Honnold is The Alpinist.

Firstly, thank you.

Secondly, with a little bit of know how and a lot of luck. Firefalls ( Horsetail Falls ) is a section of granite on the east side of El Capitan in Yosemite. In February for a few weeks each year the sun hits this part of the wall just right. Now of course you need a waterfall so that means there needs to be plenty of snowmelt or precipitation and it has to be a clear sunny day and warm enough not to freeze. Otherwise, get your reservations make the trek and find the spot and the rest is easy!

Only the weekends. Weekdays are still fine afaik. Yosemite is the best on a Tuesday.

It's still crazy that so many people show up for this. Every time I've stayed in the valley in winter it feels like it's just me, the rangers, and the quintessential random old man with the RV. Then I go in summer and it feels like I'm at the mall right when school ends.
