Agreed! Really nice area. I try to get up there at least a couple times a summer.

The dawn wall doc is under appreciated in that regard. Everyone has seen free solo, but the dawn wall is just as interesting if not more so. Tommy Caldwell has a pretty wild backstory.

Yes, it is on the trail from Gold Creek Gulch, above Ohio City. Lots of good hikes available up there, but this is my favorite hike after first arriving, having come up from sea level.

To climbers for sure. To non-climbers it’s probably Freerider just because of Honnold.

How right you are. Had friends who were obsessed with Yosemite but I couldn’t grasp why. And then finally got there myself. Tunnel View at sunrise took my breath away. Didn’t get it back until we were back in town…though me being out of shape and hiking may have contributed to that lol

Is this the Mill Lake hiked from near Ohio City? That's a nice spot and good hike.

Southern Louisiana native here, hoodoo generally refers to the supernaturalism of African Americans found along the Mississippi, not to be confused with voodoo which is just veiled west African ancestor worship

They’re doing a permit system this year. So there’s a lot of people but not nearly as many this year as the last several years. I was there this weekend and it was about 1/10th the crowd it was last year.

Note that reservations are required to enter Yosemite Valley right now to deal with the crowds during this event. This is only the case for a few weeks a year when the sun is in just the right spot to get this picture. You can typically enter without reservations.
Edit: seems reservations are only required Fr-Sun for the next 2 weekends in Feb.

Easily hundreds. I'm a landscape photographer but personally I'd just like to see this.

I feel the same way about some of the Utah/Co parks and the drive down Highway 1 (different trips). For sure highlights of my life and I wish everyone a similar experience if they're so inclined.
