The sand blows into the road, it’s like driving after a snowstorm. On the flip side, I kept expecting to see the ocean on the other side of a dune, even though I know it’s nowhere near it

The trees are larch trees. They shed their needles every autumn and are def worth seeing in person sometime https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larch

Could be golden hour on icy trees, but I still agree that hues are bright : )

Edit: Yes, they are Larch trees!

The trees are burnt from wildfires lit up by the sun. It's pretty here but the wildfires are real and the smokey summers are real.

Awesome shot! Are the green and yellow hues pushed toward orange? In my experience I’ve never seen pine trees of that color unless they’re dead

I was there in 1969. Being from south Texas I ran into the surf overjoyed to be out of the car and on the beach. Totally shocked how cold the water was. Much different than Mustang Island! We took shelter from the wind behind a HUGE driftwood tree. Built a small fire and had chili dogs. It was fantastic. I was 10.

We took the trip in a black 1966 GTO pulling a little Scotty trailer. From Dripping Springs Tx . We had friends in Poulsbo. We left home the day after Neil and Buzz landed on the moon. Made a big loop, Carlsbad, Zion, La Push, Yellowstone, Jackson Hole, then beautiful Stamford Tx, ( visited cousins) then back home before school started.
