Not trying to be a dick or anything but you sure this isn’t Great Sand Dunes NP? The San Andres Mountains in White Sands run N-S, with the park on the eastern side, if this was sunset then the the mountains would be silhouetted by the sun behind them.

The mountains in Great Sands run the same direction, but the park is situated in the western slope, so alpine glow like this seems more realistic.

Willing to admit it if I am wrong though, just going with what I see.

I think you mean 2000 feet of elevation gain? I'd consider 'vertical feet' to mean an actual vertical 2kft face, which I don't think WV has.
