my best guess is the issue isn't actually in the switch or the outlet. you'll need to check out other outlets on the circuit to see if any of them are wired funky. even if they're operating, it does not mean they're correct.

You'd be assuming north America, Europe also uses C.

Yeah it tough. I’m in a bi-level and had a similar situation.

Try Durham’s water putty. It won’t shrink, dries rock hard, and will sand smooth as glass. Try a finer grit of sandpaper, such as 220.

Yeah, you're going to want an electrician to trace those wires. You're definitely missing a junction point somewhere (that shouldn't be there, but it is). It may be burried in a wall or ceiling where it shouldn't be, but things don't always get done up to code (you're wiring colour scheme is evidence of that).
Gotta figure out where those grey wires go as neither connects to the outlet, but the switch still controls the outlet. There's a puzzle piece missing.

You must always follow local code. They require vapor barrier on the interior side of the wall above grade. Also your links just say incorrect use will cause problems, they don't say don't use vapor barriers at all.

Ahh, where local code requires conduit. (Instead of allowing Romex)
I might be seeing a grey wire and a white wire, so there might be the intent that grey is hot and white is neutral, but an electrician should check.

We’re still picking accent colors and adding bits of them in. That’s design. I’m labor!

The IRC allows this, but you need to provide fireblocking with an approved material (1/2 gypsum board, 3/4 ply, fire spray foam for gaps are most common). The blocking material must be every 10 feet both horizontally and vertically as well as at every horizontal to vertical cavity transition (ie. wall intersects with soffit).
This means that you'd need to add 3/4 ply or something to close the gap at the top plate to the exterior top plate, and you'd need to add this every 10 feet along the wall between the interior stud and exterior stud from the sole plate to the top plate. Though I think stuffing fiberglass in the gap is allowed if it's secured mechanically.

What is the prognosis regarding feeling where the saw went in? I had a very similar cut on my thumb when I was much younger (though not with a saw blade, but just a knife). No bone damage, but the flap of skin hanging off was numb for some time. Eventually, though, the feeling in that part of my finger did come back, and the only thing that remains is a pretty gnarly scar.
Hopefully you'll have a similar recovery. Also, room looks great, my wife wants to do something similar.

Cutting a piece of trim on a compound miter saw. As I was lifting the saw up I reached for the cut piece of wood. My index finger caught the still spinning blade. Rest is history!
Be careful everyone!

Didn't even know that a hot water recirculator was a thing, and with how old the house is, I'm betting not.

They seem to be fine. They were a bit low, but I just swapped the sed filter and it fixed the two sinks being a bit low, but didn't do much for the shower.

There's a cartridge in the mixer? Is this something I can swap easily? The previous idiots who owned my house did all copper straight to the mixer, didn't attach it to anything behind the wall. So the only thing holding it where it needs to be is the bolts from the actual handle. Pain in the ass.

The insulation values given in the prescriptive compliance path of the IRC are minimum values. Could you please help me find where the ratios are specified in the code?
