I’m in the process of doing that to power an old car stereo and amp in my garage. It’s totally pointless, but fun regardless.

OP, look up "joist tape" for this. Super easy to apply and will definitely prolong the joists.

Don't put any liquid membrane on the inside, I don't think that's ever a good idea and the potential pressure build up will eventually cause it to fail. I'm a huge fan of the dimple matt approach. One side of my basement, the floor is at ground level. I ran dimple matt from that side on the floor, and up the wall on the other side covering the wall that touches the dirt. On the opposite wall where I started the dimple mat at the floor, I just did rigid foam because I didn't need possible water barrier on that wall. For the wall with the dimple mat, frame a 24" OC wall over the dimple mat and fill with rockwool.

Look decent, but please do yourself a favor and get some joist tape as others have mentioned.

The ends of the boards will tell a lot as well. But from this picture they look ok.

Those look just fine. No problem - plenty of life left in 'em. Plus, if they fail, it isn't like you are falling 2 stories.

Get insulation and drywall in Home Depot and put it in yourself. If electrical is good, no need to mess with it. 5. Add small spar heater and cheap fans. 6. Keep door and open for fresh air when working out.
In conclusion, it’s a workout space to bust some reps and make some gains, so make it useable. Invest some dough once you decide to live in it or rent it out.

This last year I took up all of the deck boards and planed them down to looking like new. The previous sealant I used was terrible. The boards all looked dirty and dark brown. The joists looked very good and the deck ended up looking like new

Try to poke 1/4 inch flat screwdrive into the beams where the gap in the deckboards was. If it doesn't sink in more than 1/4 inch you are good. I second the "wrap the tops" suggestion.

You can protect the top of the joists with water proof material going forward.

I’m doing my entire deck right now. I’m applying deck tape to the joists just to give them a little more weather resistance. It’s cheap, effective, and easy to do.

Reply to Caulk flaking off by mcsoma
The tub probably has a residue on it that caused the caulk to not stick well. Or, there was still existing silicon caulk on the surface and new silicone won't adhere to it.
You'll need to remove the silicone using silicone caulk remover than clean the surface really well with some rubbing alcohol before doing it again.

Thank you everyone for the ideas and advice. Turns out the screw inside holding the washer is so corroded the screw head crumbled when I turned it. Probably need to get a plumber to replace it =(

It’s almost always the boards and not the joists that need replacing.

We live in a sad time when a pressure treated deck doesn't even last 10 years. I built mine 15 years ago and after about 10 years, the deck boards were rotting badly. Pulled some off the the treated joists are also rotting in several places even though they are ground contact rated and are 2-3 feet above the ground level.
Now I need to decide if I pull the desk out completely and just build small platforms and a few steps for the 3 french doors and plant grass or if I do pavers or stone.

Actually. There was still some mortar clinging to the edges of the tiles. It was under the grout line so I didn’t think too much of it. Is it possible the wet grout reactivated it and caused it to show on top?

are you sure you cleared your joints of mortar or mastic first?

Ya I've done that too. Wired up 4 old truck speakers to a homemade enclosure. I got about 50 old PC PSUs for $50 once. Made a bunch of benchtop power supplies for me and my buddies. You can get 12v 5v and 3v or hook up a buck controller and get variable voltage.
