Or I could stick pairs of googley eyes on the bricks and scatter them around the village as ‘rubble pets’.

Pop a couple of bricks in a carrier bag, leave it by the front door, when you go out take the bag and just 'forget' it on the bus etc, in a couple of months all your bricks are gone and the local neighbourhood has an interesting mystery to chat about.

This is what my dad told me he did years ago in his first house. Said he built a wall and lobbed every single bit of rubbish he had into it. Everything from rubble to an old motorbike. Topped it off with soil and had a nice tiered garden once he was done.
I don’t want to be chucking any old shite in though as I’d like to at least consider the environmental impact if there was one. Hence why I won’t be burying plasterboard

Back in the eighties my parents garden was tiered using rubble from their house renovation and topped off with a foot or two of top soil.
There's now an incredibly lush and vibrant garden so it doesn't seem to have done any harm.
When I was a teen I built a pond in the garden and even though the rubble had been buried under soil for over two decades there were still voids and cavities in the rubble so it might be prudent to compact the layers as you go to maximise how much you can dispose of.

Exactly, and also nowhere near level. Whoever installed the old tile made up for it with way too much thinset in some places and almost none in others.

I'd do a longer rectangle of wood instead of round.
Or go ahead and get a piece of metal instead of wood. That way you dont have to worry about stubbing your toes.

Good, a lack of draw is usually the reason and not opening the flue is a common cause. Nice work overall though.
Have to ask why'd you grind the hearth if you wear just going to pour self leveling cement? Depth issue?

Hah yeah we did when we moved in. Totally fine, the previous owners tried to start a fire but forgot to open the flue. They put it out before any damage was done though.

I see two, maybe three cracks in the picture. There is the main one, one near the wall and another that looks like it was painted over. I would check it with a moisture reader.

Thanks! That's pretty much what I was thinking but wasn't sure about the piece that hung over the beam. So I should cut along the length of the beams and run the 2x4 along the entirety?

Big Wally's plaster magic. Used it on a plaster wall that lost adhesion, that was 12 years ago, still holding up!

Get your fireplace inspected asap! Do not use it until you do so. You should not have soot marks on the brick above the grate that indicates that the fireplace is not functioning correctly.

I have had good luck with Weinman hardwood restorer.
Aireezz t1_j6edetw wrote
You can cut the drywall back flush with the beam, and run a PC of 2x4 against the beam for a nailer. That way you can but a PC of sheetrock up to the existing one and screw into the new 2x4 you hung

In the US most states and the EPA recognize that concrete, bricks and broken blocks from foundations are inert enough to be used as clean fill or crushed and used as aggregate.

then you have springs, still easy enough to do, it may seem overwhelming, but it's literally just unscrewing screws and unplugging plugs. Have the video up on your phone or tablet and just follow along. still google repairclinic

10-12 years is about the lifetime of your average hot water heater. Could be time for a replacement.
