Is the water heater still under warranty? The manufacturer sent me the parts. I hired a plumber to make sure they got installed properly

I just skimmed so forgive me if I'm being repetitive. Coolseal is a brand name for a mastic that I have used to stop leaks in mobile homes. Obviously it's designed for metal and I put it on with a paint roller. It would be worth consideration.

I believe you. I’m in the UK, and we tend to have all-in-one boilers that supplies the radiators with hot water and the taps too. I wonder which is more efficient?

I would never use something like that for a cabinet. Toggle bolts at a minimum. Personally, I would mount 1x4 strips into studs, then mount cabinet to those, then trim out the gap.

This sounds right. But a failing thermocouple is often the canary in the coal mine for a total tank failure.

You’re not wrong, but there’s really no excuse for not being able to handle very basic home maintenance & repair. You don’t need to be a professional contractor to hang a shelf or patch a hole.

Yeah, I’m not sure how I’d mount this particular unit with one of those unfortunately

You need a French Cleat. Look it up, super easy, super strong, super cheap.

I don’t need to justify anything I made a mistake while trying to learn how to do something.
It’s not a custom application it’s supposedly how all flats are built

I think what you were looking for here was isopropanol, or isopropyl alcohol.

Seems like a post for a toxic relationship sub
Tell her you’re not sure and you don’t want to fuck it up and she should pay for a pro

From all the posts here it sounds like you are more interested in justifying your mistake instead of learning the way to do. You have a custom application and need a custom solution and do not have the skill set it seems.

Yeah I was using these I guess where the bolt was too long it pushed against the breeze block and fucked the drywall

Probably the thermocouple failing to tell the boiler that the gas is still lit. A new one is pretty cheap, but fitting it could be complicated. Have a look for how to guides.

Ugh. What I have done in a similar situation is get these kind of anchors:
https://www.amazon.com/Drilling-Drywall-Plastic-Anchors-Screws/dp/B0845YKDHV/
And cut both the plastic anchor AND the screw to be short enough to fit in the space. That was pretty fidgety and I don't know if it would be up to a super heavy cabinet.

A stud finder wouldn’t have made any difference here, the cabinet has two fixing points. If it’s mounted central to the sink those brackets are nowhere near any studs you can hear that by knocking.
All a stud finder is going to do is tell me where the studs are that I can’t mount to.
And given that this is the only cabinet I’ve ever had to or ever will mount to a semi external wall like this there’s no point spending money on one

No it was installed in 2011, and came with the house purchase, I don’t think it’s still under warranty
