I think it depends on what you consider a professional job. There are professional repainters who use airless or air assisted airless and water borne paints, especially for repaints of cabinets already in kitchens.
You can get outrageous glossy finishes with a brush on furniture if you know what you’re doing and use the right product.
There’s learning curves and techniques to pick up for different paints and materials— what I’m trying to say is you need to figure out what kind of paint you plan on using, which is a question of how much space you’re willing to devote to painting and drying, whether you’re going to construct a paint booth— stuff like that.
This isn’t a “there’s a right answer, and a bunch of half-measures” kind of situation where all pros do one thing all the time, and everything else is for idiots.

Yeah it was either paint it or half the wood was just going to look really shitty in comparison to the other half. I think it looks pretty good.

Absolutely gorgeous. What a wonderful example of upcycling! I love how you reused the legs for the stool. And I agree, the fabric choice was perfect.

That’s great! It’s a clever solution, and I would think it would last a pretty long while. In my experience those LED strips don’t take that much juice.

Reply to comment by [deleted] in Do shims stay put on their own under a cabinet? by [deleted]
I often use a construction glue to help the stay in place. It helps as when doing flooring it doesn't move the shim

Don't know if it's applicable, but I've installed shims with a blob of glue to prevent them from going missing or moving.

Yep! I'm attaching to the wall studs regardless! Thanks!

I'll have it attached to the studs in the wall at the top of the shelf, but you know, can't be too careful since I'm not an expert when it comes to shims. Thanks!!

Some dude named Newton claimed that resting objects kept resting until disturbed. Ymmv.
Consider attaching it to the wall, if tipping over is the fear.

The shims will stay in place. But typically cabinets are also attached to the wall, preventing them from moving and/or tipping over

Will the way the lights are framed still work correctly for doing makeup? Since they're hooded it seems like they might not give the amount of lighting. Just wondering but it's absolutely beautiful.
