This post sounds to me like someone who may not have the money to drive a newer car, given that they want to stay under $6k. They know they’re getting what they pay for. It’s nice to be able to afford something with extras and low miles but that isn’t everyone’s reality.

You misread the post. They never said they are opposed to a newer car, just that they never owned one newer then 2010.

If you know what you're looking at it can be a good purchase. Dealers and cab drivers have been known to frequent the state auctions which can lead to high bids on not so good vehicles. That used to happen a lot when the state used Ford Crown Victoria's for there vehicles.

I feel like we just have a strong drinking culture in general in the US.

Are you a mechanic? This post sounds naive to me. Never anything newer than 2010, well it is 2023 now. You get what you pay for. Backup cameras are a great addition to modern cars also not to mention the better gas mileage.

I know someone who has bought several cars at the state auction and has always been happy with them. That being said, he says that there are a lot of dealers there as well, so the bidding can be pretty competitive on the better vehicles

I don’t see the harm in ONE road soda if you haven’t been drinking.
Edit: maybe 2 if it’s a long drive and you space em out

I had to take drug/alcohol classes after a DUI. Out of the 20 or so people in the class 7 of them were DUI for weed. 6 of them caused an accident/crashed their car. Driving high is still driving impaired.

The same democrats who did nothing when they were found to be drunk on the job while the legislature was in session? You realize the state rep who was pulled over is a Democrat right?

You don't argue the point on the basis of income tax exclusively unless you have an agenda to push. Maybe you aren't in the loop, but it's almost word for word what gets pumped out daily by every Koch funded group. You see the same s*it here, on Facebook, in the media, so yeah, by that definition it doesn't seem "radical" because "everyone is saying it." The script almost writes itself: "I was recently in Ohio, and a big man, strong man, worked on the railroad his whole life and you could see it you know what I mean, came up to me, tears in his eyes, and said Mr. Trump I've lost everything and I don't have much, but please take more of my money so that income taxes are more fair because it's just so sad what we're doing to the rich people in this country treating them like dogs."

Just curious have you ever seen a roll over crash get posted because someone was high on weed? To the best of my knowledge I have never seen an article about someone rolling over while driving because they smoked some grass.
Plenty of drunk drivers though

Rich people don't work in CT, they go to New York or work remote. If wealthy people leave the state there not taking local CT jobs with them lol they didn't make em and they don't work em
