Well, there's at least 4 additional options in that instance: 1) foot the uber bill yourself, 2) check what the agreement says in the lease amount snow removal - file a complaint if they've exceeded SLA, 3) look for a new place to live that treats snow removal as a priority or 4) look for a new employer.

To clarify, when I referenced management company, I meant the building's management company who didn't plow the parking lot in a reasonable manner.

Obviously the employer would expect the worker to be on site in CT after getting 3-6" of snow. Regardless of what you think about Amazon, they are not responsible for the employees' choice to live in an area where snow removal is not a priority. Still need to be at work on time.

Close family member recently died and this would have saved them and us from so many issues. They were begging to die saying, “god please let me rest” for their last week and I’m sure was feeling that way for much of the time before. If you’re done and close to death you should be allowed to go.

This is great to hear and I hope to see it as all-encompassing as Canada's one day. It's ridiculous that someone with an uncurable mental illness can be forced to suffer or use risky personal methods (dying alone in the process) if they want to end things, rather than having a safe government program to do so.

Then make the rounds to the restaurants near you. They also often offer shift meals. Working as a busser also means tips from servers, and then you can work up to becoming a server if you have no experience. Server wages are the highest paying job out there with very little experience or education required.

When you go in, let them know you’re there for employment services and ask if you can speak with a career counselor. Then let that person know your full situation and ask if they can make referrals for you (for housing assistance, food, etc). They are mostly CT DOL staff in there but there are partner agencies who can help as well.

Good luck.

There are alot of jobs out there. I am not sure by your posts what employment you haave had in the past, or for the last 4 months since your step-dad passed away, but it is an absolute certainty that if you can wash dishes or be a restaurant busser or server you can find employment immediately in the restaurant industry.

While it's true that HR official side is with the company, not all companies go out of their way to screw over their employees in the name of profits. Lots of HR professionals spend their time genuinely helping employees with things like hiring, benefits and leaves of absence. It's only the companies that tell you "HR is here to help you," and then use that against you in case of conflict that times get shitty.

You could try going to the American Job Center in Waterbury, the folks there can connect you with services around you (housing, food, job search assistance). They also have computers you can use to look for jobs, apply, and update your resume, etc. There are a lot of folks struggling right now but these services are free.

It’s at 249 Thomaston Ave, look for the small blue awning on the side of the building.

I don’t get why people are being mean to me. I’m literally just asking where I can go for help. People always say to ask for help and the one time I do I get ridiculed and belittled.
