West Thompson Dam has awesome trails all around it. There's this other one, Furnace something, with a lake and a good hike and great eastward views. You're not far from Leadmine in Sturbridge and Moore in Spencer up in Mass, and the Airline Trail's northern section goes right into Douglas State Forest which has an awesome bridge trail through the cedar swamp.

Almost forgot Bull Hill in Woodstock for a great sunset.

There are so many! The two longest are Nipmuck an Natchaug. Nipmuck Trail goes from Mansfield Hollow State Park near UConn all the way to the MA border at Bigelow Hollow State Park. Natchaug Trail goes from Godwin State Park through Natchaug State Forest to Nipmuck Trail in Yale-Meyers Forest. There are tons of small local trails, many can be seen on openstreetmap.org.

Do you ever feel regretful about being an HR professional given what the world tells us you do (help out employees in struggling situations) vs what you're actually supposed to do (help the business achieve it's goals)? I only ask because I see memes like this all the time

Just a reminder Amazon kept their workers working until the very last moment during a Tornado which resulted in 6 people dying. Amazon doesn’t give a shit about their employees.
