Of course I know that. Have you ever dealt with a terminal illness? Shit is BLEAK. I have had to watch too many loved ones suffer just because. My aunt was a mess for over a year. It's horrific & expensive.

I think it actually is like LSD, speaking from numerous personal experiences. Actually the science tends to say that too. The two psychoactive drugs actually work on the same chemical pathway in the human body. Side effects are not exactly the same but they're pretty damn close.

You know this is for terminally ill people in pain right, and not people down on the state of affairs "these days", right?

I used to work for an Amazon warehouse. (Which I personally loved). Did she not have time she could have used? My understanding was it was a fireable offense if you had negative time off.

The state has made it harder to get a CDL. If the state needed more drivers they could hire untrained workers willing to learn and qualify them for a CDL, but that would cost time and money so the state doesn’t do it. They could offer training for their non driver workers and pay raise if they get a CDL as well.

My guess is that people aren’t really worried about insurance companies or the medical establishment pressuring people.
I think people maybe don’t want to feel guilty not choosing this option if their families are under pressure.

Lol this is life in the REAL WORLD! Every commuter out there has been getting up early and planning ahead for literally generations if there's snow in the morning.

Tractor Supply carries compressed straw in the feed area. Its kind of chopped already. Straw is preferable for gardens and grass planting cover because it usually does not have weed seeds in it.
If building a new garden bed, I would highly recommend covering it in the weed block material. Water will go right through, moisture will be retained better, and weeds won't get through. Weeding will be your #1 chore without it.
Have a closeby water source. If the weather gets dry in mid-summer, you'll be watering daily.

I understand needing to be in the building. Would he be fired if he couldn't make it today or was more than 5 min late? That's the ridiculous part.

She got to work 2 hrs late, and they still hadn't plowed the facility, so she had the most difficulty getting into the building. smh

She can't even get her heat to work right with the new management company. It's either off or 90 degrees. But that's another battle.

My SO works in a decidedly non-Bezos related office that was fully remote back in the rona times, and while he is back in the office now, he has worked from home a few times. I asked him yesterday if that’s what he would do today, but he said his current project/meetings require in-person, so he was out the door at 7:30 this morning. Unfortunately, it’s not a situation that’s unique to only your daughter’s sector.

I feel like the first real storm of the season is usually weird and has messy cleanup.
Some street plow drivers are also local contractors, not DOT employees. It’s a seasonal job that’s had no work this year, wouldn’t surprise me if that had something to do with it. Also, there really has been a nearly across the board reduction of the labor market. My town had a lot of people retire early during the quarantine. They replaced many, but they don’t have experience yet. Was talking to the city supervisor about it last year after they destroyed a bunch of ornamental shrubs by mistake.

Sounds like the complaint should be with the management company, not the employer. She should walk to a passable road, call an uber and send the bill to the management company. Not an ideal situation, but an easy workaround to avoid termination.

The state and many municipalities have set overtime maximums for road workers that plow and have to pay even more above that cap so they want to save those hours for truly catastrophic weather events. That's why the 2-10inch snow storms are treated lightly but above that it's rapid and constant.

holy crap, what job pays that much?
i believe my dad makes 56k or so a year? he supports our family of four+the dog, my mom is retired. we live on a somewhat large piece of property in the, i guess you could say country. we live in a log style ranch my parents actually built themselves ten or so years ago.. so maybe that makes a difference.
my mother is always telling me id need combined income (like me + one other) to survive in this day and age but we make it by fine, so its confusing..
i do agree though that its sad- how high the cost of living gets, and how little wages pay. its like no matter how hard we work people will always be struggling.

Reply to Made in Connecticut: ASML in Wilton is one of the largest semiconductor companies in the world by jaydecay123
ASML is not a high tech company on the cutting edge.
They are on the bleeding edge of semiconductor development. When people talk about institutions developing the future, you hear places like MIT, NASA but ASML deserves to be on a similar level.
