Except we don’t have free healthcare and keeping people sick makes money. Killing them doesn’t save money?

I was hired for a job I had zero skillset/desire for. I'm an IT guy. I was hired for what I thought was an IT job. It turned out to be a call center job. I was hired two months previously and had to wait on background checks and all this crap. No one ever mentioned it was a call center job. Not even in the ad. I was and still am pissed about it. Not only that but I have zero desire to struggle to find parking every morning when I get to work. I shouldn't have to arrive 45 minutes early just to get a parking space. Fuck that. Also, fuck the lifers that spend all day doing nothing. That place seemed to be filled with them. My former boss included.

She went in as soon as the driveway was clear and is just hoping she has the hours to cover the time missed. The way and rate that they generate time off seems like a setup for things like this.
I used to work at a call center many years ago, and they had strict rules, too. Except when weather was a factor or a huge accident on a highway, they relaxed the rules, realizing it cost more to fire and rehire half the staff.

Got it - wasn’t intending to come off as jerky as it might have, more as a facts vs opinions statement. My votes are Wilton, Ridgefield, Westport and New Canaan. All have objectively great schools and great town amenities. Weston has a smaller population so has less of that. But is so close to the others it doesn’t matter. In Weston you have more woods and country feel.

CT is a car state, I don't understand how you would function without one.

We used to rent a cottage on soundview in the 90’s it was a blast. Is the Pavilion still open?

Have you driven on Rt 1 in the summer? Not sure more development is what they need there.

She has. Just not a lot to match her pay. She is over 3 years in and it only gets worse.

I’m okay being 20-30 minutes away from things! We would want to live in a place with a tight knit community, older homes, walkable etc!

Uber can be pretty clutch, very underestimated, far better than most taxi services afaik but quality of individual drivers can vary, can get a driver just about any time of day. also expensive, especially if your going far.

Anywhere in Fairfield County. They're all bangers outside of the cities.
Here's what you need to understand, especially with schools: a school system may be ranked #40 in CT, but CT schools are really, really good. The gap between a #1 ranked school and a #25 in CT is tiny.
So, what it's going to boil down to, is if you want a rural feel or you want a more urban/suburb-ish feel. Do you want to be 10 minutes away from everything or is 20-30 OK?
The one thing I will advise is don't be within 2-3 blocks of the shoreline. During hurricanes and strong tropical storms water tends to stack up in Long Island Sound and the majority of it gets pushed down that way. Leads to a lot of surface street flooding and damaging waves.

I did google, but I wanted people who lived there perspective! The hidden gems, there are multiple good school districts but what has like a quaint village feel isn’t something I can google lol!

Snarky comment, but there’s not a lot of available homes for sale… bring some 2x4/ and a hammer.

All of this information with actual facts is readily available with about 10 minutes spent on Google. What you’ll get here is a lot of anecdotal opinions. 700k for a house will get you something decent within commuting distance to Manhattan. Best school districts are Weston, Wilton, New Canaan. Others in the area may not be the best but they will still be better than many other parts of the country. Wilton is a great family town with lots of things for kids. The town even has bussing for after school activities which is a huge deal. according to people I know who live there.
Fairfield is good but too congested for me. There is some form of traffic any time you leave the house.
Norwalk is not as nice or as wealthy as the surrounding towns but still offers a lot. It’s schools are definitely below the wealthier towns but it’s not as bad as some might tell you.
Also research the mil rates of each town. That’s what your property tax will be based on- that’s auto and home and some other things that qualify. It might make a big difference in your bills…

I live here and it's nice but I am trying to understand a travel agent recommending CT specifically as a place to go on a trans atlantic vacation? Have you been to New York or Boston? Way more to do good public transit to get around. CT is right here and you could visit by train fairly easily.

Night life along the shore? Maybe in New Haven but walking around New Haven at night can be scary. As others have said, the shore is spread out. Lots of little towns without much happening. Maybe stay near Mystic, go to aquarium and Seaport, visit a casino. Expect to pay a lot for Uber and expect a long wait outside cities

Shit is too bleak these days to deny anyone the right to end their suffering.
