Moved from CA to CT less than a year ago. Make sure to bring proof of an emissions test if needed for your car (it depends how old your car is, I believe). I went to the Danbury DMV, and I transferred my license and 2 vehicles at the same time, which took maybe an hour. Take a look at the DMV website.

Hi! I can probably give some advice, but I definitely suggest checking the websites of schools you are interested in transferring to because policies differ from school to school. If you keep your grades up, that is the best thing you can do to keep transfer doors open. You also may want to compare available coursework to degrees you are interested in. If you are looking at specific majors or out of state schools, you may find that sticking to general coursework is best. If you are looking at majors with specific prereqs like nursing or engineering, be mindful of that as well. As long as the original college is accredited, and I'm almost positive Tunxis is (it's part of the state system, right?), it should be a fine option.

I dunno about public transportation as I live in a town with one bus, no taxi service, and pretty sketchy Uber service. I would caution you to choose your city only after contacting their town hall to be sure you will be able to find ways to get around. I have never, since age 16, been without a car. Some were pretty crappy for sure, lol. But I think a car is an absolute necessity.🚗🚗🚗

Bought last year (2022), dual income no kids wife and I cleared 140k last year, on the way to 175k. This is coming from having a 12 dollar an hour job back in 2017.

Taxes are fine here. People complain but go to Long Island and see what their crazy taxes get. We get a lot here.

Bought with 5% down on a 345k house. 5 bedroom 3 full bath. 2200 sqft. Lower Hartford County, halfway between my work and wife’s work. Little less than 2800 a month all said and done.

Edit: forgot to mention a lot of student loan debt from wife and myself. Plus CC debt and two cars yet to be paid off. We are house poor lmao. Lucky we don’t like doing anything. 2030 we will be filthy rich though. Lol

Them’s the bus routes. Metro North has a train line out of there from union station. Sidewalks will be mostly everywhere there; someone else will have to chime in about any bike lanes.

I hear ya on the vehicle thing. A lot of CT is inconvenient or exceedingly difficult to access without a car.

Single income with 3 kids (6, 3 and 8 months) Purchased my 1400sqft home in stamford in 2017 for 387k. I would not be able to afford it now if buying it today as it's prob worth 600k. At this point I just hope I don't get taxed out of the state. Property taxes when I purchased in 2017 were 5k/yr and are now over 7k.

I bought a house for 220k when I was making 55k. Single income, single dude. You can do it, it was tight with the oil bill and electric. But you’ll always make more money if you are buying a house. Since you are looking towards your future.

I’ve tripled my income in the past couple years, each year gets easier.
