Sunrun is the worst.
SunPower is who I went went, they were installed by Earthlight Technologies and it was fantastic and painless.
I went with a lease because the monthly cost of the lease was almost $20k over 20 years less than an owned system purchased outright. I would definitely get multiple quotes and have them quote you both leased and owned. I also liked SunPower's system buyout clause, which is set to market rate determined by an independent assessor (according to their contract). Their panels are among the best, side-by-side with Samsung.
My price went up by ~$10/mo over 2 months since I let my initial quote expire. Regret that over the 20 years. Still should save at least $250/mo over Eversource. Should be a good time to get on the list with the lowest waiting times. June-Sept is the worst time to sign up with install times in the 4-6 month range. I signed in Sept and had my install end of Jan.

Work in a courthouse. Don't have that option with my particular job.

I have the Kobalt 80V. Batteries are 5AH and 2.5AH. (I also have the lawnmower, leaf blower, string trimmer and hedge trimmer.)
My driveway is about 60' long, but only need it for about 40' of it. I should be able to easily clear it with the 2.5AH with juice to spare. The batteries recharge fast enough that by the time I drain one, the other would be ready to go again.

That’s so good to hear 💖 my sample size is just people I know, all of whom seem to be starting with a major leg up. I’m so glad that home ownership has been a possibility for you— fingers crossed I can get there too!

No I don’t think that is the case. My husband and I both come from a poor background. We worked and saved for our house. He still has some student loan debt that we’re working on paying off and definitely no financial help from anyone.

I can't believe there are 73 comments and not one mention yet about how somehow Eversource is going to fuck this up
(snow or no snow, they fucking up.)

Seamless transition here. Went to constellation. Took 1.5-2 months total. On the next full month statement from Neversource I saw that the next month it would be switched on the bill.

The answers to this will vary a lot. I’m not speaking as a homeowner (sadly) but everyone I know who owns a house in CT had at least two of these things working in their favor:
*dual income with a partner
*no student loan debt
*decades in the workforce
*financial help from family/parents

Honestly. You can can't own a house in this state and earn less than 70k

I will never understand the media hype for snow in CT. It needs to be reported but it stirs such a laughable media frenzy. Idk when it happened but I never remember the news being like this in the late 90s through the 2000s. I don’t get it.

I did the same about a decade ago, great money saver and easy to transfer. A lot of the state schools have on their website a page about transfer students and how specific classes/credits would transfer over to the new school.

Its a 4Ah battery. I haven’t actually taken it out for a snow clear yet. My wife said it was a pointless purchase since we have landscapers but they come and go as they please and I don’t like sitting there being at the mercy of the plows. Its supposed to run for like 30 minutes but I’ll probably have more accurate numbers later.

This page alerted me to the issue, told me where to go, and I was able to lock in Constellation at 13.1 cents back in November. January was first bill under new provider.
I did not hear back initially, so I used the chat function on constellation to bring up the issue. It was resolved there. I received the confirmation email I was missing, and I was good to go.
Everything else has been seamless.
