Thanks kind redditor! Hubby said we have stabilizer in our gas, it’s just been sitting in our blower since the beginning of this season so I think we should be ok.

EnergizeCT.com

Set filters (personally I use no sign up/cancelation fee and fixed rate)

Find supplier rate you'd like

Click a couple buttons and enter your information

See rate change on bill in a cycle or two

In regards of "to good to be true," it's not, eversource supplier is just dicking everyone, who hasn't switched over, that much. Many people have autopay and don't see it, just pay it, and many people just don't know you can switch supply companies, hell I used a Texas company two years ago 0_o

Check the deals as well, a couple times I've switched they've done $50 Visa debit cards to refer people, it costs nothing to switch and it's a free $50 or whatever the incentive/promotion is. I've switched suppliers 3 times since October. No issues.

Every time I bring it up my old man gives me hell. At the beginning of last summer when I was paying $0.07 he told me to lock in an .08 cent deal for 2 years and I said that's more than when I'm paying now- why would I do that, I'll wait to see if they drop. Every rate steadily increased from there on out, I currently have 11 cents or there abouts for the next 8 months. I really wish I had that $0.08/2 years ha.

Assuming you have an electric snowblower... How long does it run for? Slowly converting all my stuff to electric, but it takes me well over an hour to clear my driveway and such, so not sure how many batteries it'd take.

Yes. So back in the "old" days gas would break down after a few months and become unstable, clogging up the carburetor as it basically came out of mixture and some of the components of the gas evaporated off. So stabilizer was invented that lets you store gas for up to 2 years. Anyone who stores engines was encouraged to use stabilizer on gas you get from a pump (as opposed to the expensive $20 a gallon synthetic stuff you buy in a can at the hardware store)

However the bright minds here in CT moved us all to E10, 10% ethanol fuel. Ethanol is very hygroscopic, meaning is absorbs water. That water/alcohol mix is terrible for engine components and often, but not always, means engines are very hard to start after sitting for a while. This is especially true because the water/alcohol is heavier than the gas, so it settles to the bottom of the tank and if there is enough of it your engine simply won't run on water.

The solution is to put stabilizer in any fuel that goes in your small engines, and when you add that fuel to the tank make sure that the engine runs for a bit before you store it so the fuel gets all the way into the engine. (I'll add, most 2 stroke oils are considered a stabilizer which is why their fuel can seem to go years without causing a problem).

Best go out and start your snowblowers before this evening! Most times when mowers and snow blowers come into my friend's shop from not running it is from clogged carb parts and they always fail at the worst time... before a storm or after 2 weeks of rain when you just have to get the lawn mowed!

Actually Madison/ Guilford line so Milford is 10 minutes closer BUT I agree the glastonbury ride is much better, and at 830-9 AM may even be a similar travel time.

So it sounds like you live in the old saybrook/Westbrook area. I’d recommend going to Glastonbury because route 9 is a much nicer ride compared to 95.

Went to the high school, and there is a MASSIVE amount of traffic when school gets in/out. Probably more than the rest of the town at any point in the day. There’s no horns, but all the rest of the noises associated with alot of cars are there. I think I know what neighborhood you’re talking about, and it probably won’t be good for noise. If you want to DM or comment the road I (might) be able to give you a better idea, but no promises sorry.

There are lots of smaller outfits out there that will provide more personalized service and talk to you like a human. There's a good list on the CT greenbank website. I got quoted from sunrun and a few competitors, ended up with Waldo Renewable, a 3 person company based in east lyme, had a great experience

Reminder for those who've recently moved here from the south;

Mother Nature doesn't give a flying f*** how big your truck is or how "good" of a driver you think you are. Drive as slowly as the law/road signs recommend. The fewer fools stuck in a ditch, the less work our emergency crews will have.
