Reply to Relocating from OR to CT! Anyone in Simsbury willing to help me out with a slightly strange request? Details in post! by [deleted]
Those are two of the main drags through Simsbury so if you are sensitive to traffic noises, probably not the best bet for quietness. It's tough to move across the country! Sign a short lease and buy some really nice earplugs until you get get an actual feel for the area.

I've never seen much traffic on those roads...except around 7:00AM, 2:30PM, and then 5-6PM. Most of Simsbury is fairly quiet but for obvious reasons being next to a high school does mean a lot of school busses go by.

This isn’t even worth discussing. It’s an overnight storm and will melt the next day. People are so annoying with their snow talk.

Hi sorry I can't help with the specific request. I just want to make sure you aren't getting scammed, so many rental scams right now it's crazy. I listed a rental property a while ago and the next thing I knew, the pictures of the apartment I took were all over Facebook and Craigslist with different contact information and they were collecting deposits from sight unseen renters.
My general rule of thumb is that if the realtor/manager/owner can't provide a live video walk through I would be skeptical and require some other form of verificaiton. Hate to say it but that's the world we live in now.
If you are dealing with a realtor I'm happy to verify contact information for you in a private message.
Either way good luck with the move and I hope it all goes well. Simsbury is awesome!

In white out conditions it’s recommended to increase visibility. Also it is the law if you are traveling at a rate of speed lower than the stated MPH rate

Actually, the NWS has a bigger storm forecast for Friday into Saturday. We'll see. March could be coming in like a lion this year!

Snow blower has been waiting since November, gassed up and ready to go as are the snow tubes. Can't wait to hit the hill with my kids!

So does everywhere else. Nothing beats Utah snow quality. They’re having a banner year too.

I'm not holding my breath. It's rain out in the Midwest now. It's only going to be snow because it's happening at night.
Give it til Friday to melt lol
If it's a good amount, awesome. Not counting on it though. I'm not expecting my kids school to be open tomorrow, but we'll see.

I was about to second the outdoors. There's tons of really good hiking in the area. The AT is literally right there.
There are state forests in the area where ATVs/UTVs are allowed too

So, given the responses here, I took the plunge with "Think Energy!"
The process was seamless and it does not look like I will have to wait two weeks or anything; according to what I am seeing, it is all done. Specifically, after the last step (click the link in your email to verify...), I got a page that said my bill should be switched within 1-2 billing cycles.

Right. I'm ready to see who's driving with their hazards on on the highway tomorrow. Like, what does that signify? It's snowing? We know, we can see. Does it mean, watch out for me because I have no idea what I'm doing? I just don't get it. You don't need your hazard lights on flashing down I91. Keep them off.

I'm also surprised - salt after, not before?

This is personal preference and different from other advice you might get, but if you are able to shovel (and depending on the size of your driveway), I would keep a shovel handy and shovel every 2” or so just to make it less labor-intensive. It’s easier to push around an inch or two than to do 4-6” all at once. If it starts as sleet, I would try to shovel that off as soon as it changes to snow so it doesn’t ice over and make your life more difficult. If it starts as snow, I would shovel off the first inch or so and wait for it to finish to do the rest. Finish off with salt at the end to keep any deleterious material from freezing over. Just salting is good for an inch or so. Good luck!

So no salt before the snow touches down?

I don't really have a specific answer, because an argument could be made for most of the state haha
But just wanted to reach out as a fellow fan of rainy days... Went for my run the other day in a light shower, incredibly relaxing.

I was starting to feel bad for the guy I pay every winter to plow my driveway. He hasn't made a dime this season.
