Having a car will make your life easier, but if you find a place you like in Windham (Willimantic) you can likely get by without one. Public transit isn't amazing there, but you can get a bus to groceries and UConn.

The place is deceiving for sure.

It is a fairly run down, hole-in-the-wall sorta place. Looks like it hasn't been updated or seen a fresh coat of paint since probably the mid-1990s if I were to guess.

But definitely some of the best chicken grinders around.

I get that and have enough chicken cutlets left for 3 more meals. It is literally impossible to fit in your mouth as it is roughly the size of your entire head.

But hosmer has root beer, orange soda, grape soda, black cherry soda, et cetera, which taste a little different of course but are the same flavors/types of soda that other companies make. Moxie is one of those flavors/types of soda but I’ve never seen any other brand make that flavor.

Hosmer Peach and strawberry sodas are the best soda ever

I lived in Vernon as a grad student on $22k. This was about 10 years ago at this point so I'm not sure how rent has changed. If you have a car I highly recommend commuting from Vernon or Manchester

Willimantic was incredibly rundown and had the state’s worst heroin problem for decades. Other drugs and crimes were pretty bad too. It’s getting better though, through a lot of hard work, but I’d still put it last on my list of potential homes.
