Sounds like the advertising emblems McDermott Auto Group in East Haven/New Haven affixes to their cars. It’s a waving flag, surrounded by a silver ring that says “McDermott Auto Group.” They are usually affixed next to the license plate. The claim to fly New England’s largest American flag outside their showroom off I-95, hence the flag theme.

As a debt free foreigner probably. I see many of the Indian immigrants in my town supporting a small family on what I assume is $75-125 (based on entry-mid level IT pay). But that makes the assumption you aren’t spending like we do here. So if you aren’t going out to eat, drive one older used car, don’t travel for vacations or only fly home.

Would your Spouse want to work eventually? A $25-45k second job from them really changes the math.

You'll need a car. Especially in the eastern side of CT. Payment/insurance/gas/maintenance will be a significant chunk of your monthly budget. I would suggest buying a cheaper used car in cash so you can avoid the monthly payments. Drive the beater for a while, save money towards a better vehicle down the road.

Gaetanos. Hands down. Kovac is great but I also just get it how I like it sometimes as well, lettuce tomato mayo etc. I also like to put hot soppressta on as well. 3 locations in ffld county. Definitely check Google for hours, I believe each it a bit different. Stratford closed Mondays, Shelton closed Sundays. Not sure about westport

I grew up playing around those abandoned factories. Good times. One building had big piles of bronze ingots behind it. Tried to drag one home on my bike but it was too much weight for my old huffy.

One thing I thought of later/just now is if you don’t already have housing secured, check to see if UConn either has some apartments/condos set aside for out of state faculty moving here or if they have connections to local landlords where you would get a good price. Some employers do that, not sure specifically about UConn but definitely worth looking into.

I grew up eating ShopRite rotisserie chicken. I moved here and when I tried it again after not having it for years I was disappointed. It was also 8:00 at night so there’s that.

Car tax maybe. Otherwise the East and West coast probably have the same ish laws.

The best I’ve heard the difference in people described is that a Californian will be very nice if you have a flat tire but will not help. A north-easterner will curse you out for being a moron while changing said flat tire.
