If its its going to education about firearm safety then isn't it a good application of tax dollars? I think there's a lot of data that shows that spending on prevention pays back a lot in outcomes. Like the Head Start program for preschool - every dollar spent pays off like 9 or 10 bucks down the road in dollars saved. It literally keeps teens and adults out of the welfare and criminal justice system. I'm for the same approach if that's the intent here for preventing gun deaths.

It is very possible that a high traffic area has simply worn out. The die used to color the carpet fibers has worn and that is why you don't see a difference in your cleaning attempts. My mom had this issue with a carpet that was less than 10 years old. Turned out to be a defect in manufacturing.

Compared to CA - Places aren’t connected by freeways / 4 lane or 6 lane state roads. Sure, to get across the state or between cities, you use the highway system. But largely, travel tends to be on 2 lane town/city roads that, as my cousin from NC once told me, feel like “tree tunnels”.
