I appreciate the descriptive response. Perhaps I've focused too much on the few negative reviews I stumbled across.

The first guns were not invented so people could have a fun hobby. They were designed to efficiently kill people and animals, and in the case of handguns, specifically people. The fact that people made a game of seeing who was the most accurate with their killing machine by shooting targets doesn't change that fact.
And the fact that you haven't figured out that that's what people mean when they say "Handguns are made for killing. Not for target practice, hand/eye coordination or recreational." is why you aren't taken seriously.

Thank you! Certainly seems like West of Hartford might be the way to go for us

Oh I get you, that doesn't sound as nefarious as the definition I read.
Sounds like they should be doing this on their own.

Reply to Moving from the UK to work in New London, Where's the best place's to look at moving to? by UNCERTAIN_BUCKET
I wouldn't recommend living in New London proper but the surrounding areas aren't that bad and everything is within relatively close driving distance regardless of where you choose to live. Waterford and Niantic are west of the Thames, if you don't want to commute over the Goldstar Bridge, otherwise Groton and Mystic are perfectly fine on the east side (tho Mystic is more expensive and a bit further away).
Although, if you want a little less urban and don't mind a little bit more of a commute, Uncasville/Montville on the west side of the river, and Gales Ferry on the east side are nice little areas that are a bit more sparsely populated.
But yeah, plenty of woods, plenty of parks, and hiking, and beaches (tho the beaches in RI are better imo), so plenty of outdoor stuff. And between New London and Mystic, plenty of social stuff. Nothing to the grand scale that you'd get in one of the major cities, but satisfactory enough for a local scene. Plenty of good food too, especially the pizza.

I live in Waterford, used to live in Stonington. I’d look at Mystic for social reasons. It gets busy in the summer but the social scene is better than New London, Waterford, or Groton.

This is a slowly unfolding catastrophe. It will have a large impact in CT. Think about the property tax base alone and the impact of that being washed away.

I'm in the greater Hartford area (north of New London, central to CT) so I can't weigh in much but just wanted to say welcome to CT and US and best of luck to you on your emigration. Can't be easy leaving home.
The few times a year I'm around coastal CT it's always nice, so I'm sure you'll find something that you like. Downtown Mystic has a nice area for nightlife. Other towns may too, but I remember being in Mystic a few years ago and there was a lot going on--good food and drink and lots of socializing.

Unfortunately for us, on the list of things to be worried about nuclear arms/war is still ridiculously far down the list.

Putin isn't suicidal. No worries. All grandstanding. Nothing has changed since the start of the war since they stopped inspections at that time anyway.

Waterford, Niantic and the Lyme area are all beautiful areas. I don't know about the social life though.

Not exactly... this process is driven by demand. You have state employees (not affiliated with the growers) create a demand forecast for both medical and recreational purchasers. They then analyze the capacity at all growers to see if it will cover demand. Since the state decided to limit competition - they need to know if those suppliers can meet demand or not.
Growers should be doing this independently on their end, but the question is... is there a capacity issue here or, since the lead time to grow if fairly long, is it just a temporary shortage?
Once we have a good understanding of supply capacity and demand expectations on a monthly basis we can determine what issue to solve for. It may be bringing in more suppliers so they can meet demand or better planning industry wide.
At no point should the suppliers meet to discuss and there's no reason for that since this is essentially a state run industry

Are you looking rent or buy? Renting in downtown Hartford might be a great option for you, they have built (and are still building) lots of new units. The serious crime in Hartford is not really downtown and is more drug and gang related than random.

Come get one of these brand new luxury apartments right in downtown New Britain. You could walk to the best museum, and the most beautiful new parks in the Hartford area. Walk right out your front door and be at one of several high restaurants in the city, all different types of wonderful cuisine, from all over the world. Zagat Award winning Chinese food(Great Taste), There is a whole street of Polish restraints(Starpolska), bakeries(Kasia), shops(Martin Rosol),with authentic Polish offerings, voted on best in the state, Puerto Rican food (Criollisimo,Mofongo), several Thai restaurants(Mai Kong), beautiful Jamaican spots with amazing ox tail(Taste of Jamaica). New Britain is known for the holy grail, Capital lunch, if you want to enjoy the American classics, of 2 up and a coke, then go catch a ball game at Beehive stadium, this the only city in the area. Night life is starting to move in, we have 2 breweries, a couple of new cool bars downtown, and several other spots sprinkled around. If you play golf we have the most state of the art public facilities in the area, and if you don’t there is a great place to have drinks over looking the course! You are very close to everything, The mall is there with all the top stores in it(Vans) All major highways are easily, several to get you anywhere fast. New Britain is a city that is very much on the rise, and has the best leadership in the state. Be part of CTs Rising Star! (sorry Hartford, you had that title for to long and did nothing with it)

$177.00, electric heat. One bedroom condo, two floors. Without budget billing it would have been $256 and change
