Exactly. The cannabis system in CT was specififcally designed to cater to ven-caps who can afford the fees, have the time to litigate with zoning and have the resources to sit on their business for the YEARS it took to greenlight.

They’re keeping a pretty good staff, as opposed to most papers which are downsizing. Their sports section is excellent to boot.

Reply to Lawsuit: Routine procedure would have saved CT mom who died after 2020 childbirth by -ctinsider
> The growth “would have been apparent on a standard chest X-ray” and measures to make the birth safer could have been put in place, according to the lawsuit, which seeks unspecified damages.
Reads like the cause of death was a complication during childbirth, quite possibly something like a blood clot. If such was the case it sounds like a very careful review would be necessary to determine if it was caused by a complication of the childbirth (would have happened anyway) or the lymphoma. This is not yet clarified in the article and is very relevant. When people lose someone unexpectedly, they often look for medical mistakes. And it sounds like mistakes may have been made. What I am saying is that it's not clear if those mistakes lead to the untimely death. Because a blood clot can happen, be unrelated, and quite possibly unavoidable as well.

Call DCF. They can sort this all out. Or maybe just the state.

I appreciate your very serious response to my depressing and sarcastic answer. If tried getting into various martial arts in the past. Really it’s social anxiety which prevents me from ever going. I did a year of a gym and got in shape because my friend was going with me teaching me. I really appreciate the offer btw. I’m only mostly broke so I hope you save that for someone who needs it more and is more deserving. The well being of fitness is real. Where about in CT in this if you don’t mind me asking?

Reply to Guilford vs Madison by Coffee_Cardio
I live in guilford and am a young person there so I am in the heat of the rivalry. I have friends in both towns. Madison is richer, and more preppy than guilford by a lot. I always thought it wasn’t that much of a difference until I learned that the madison high school’s cafeteria in actually more of a food court with food from actual restaurants or chains. Also the roads. I live right on the edge of guilford and I am not exaggerating when I say that just by the potholes you can tell when you cross into the other. Madison is rich and cares about looking rich. Guilford schools are better. we have more advanced classes and opportunities and also the high school is brand new and really nice. Honestly from what I can tell the sports aboie about equal. The guilford high school arts department is an a whole different level than madison. Huge, beautiful plays and musicals done every year and the music program is wonderful. There’s even a town band that a lot of the community gets involved in and really loves. Guilford people are much nicer, not just the teenagers but also adults are too. People are always waving and people walking their dogs or going for a jog down the street, and generally everyone is more down to earth. Madison is still a very nice place though. They have state parks including a few beaches and a really nice wooded park in north madison. Both towns are bigger than most people think too, especially guilford. Guilford and north guilford are one town, but very different. Also both towns are very liberal. You’ll see pride flags by and outside of stores, one of the madison churches just had “drag bingo” to raise money for the youth mission trip which was a huge success. You’ll never really see trump or confederate flags in someone’s truck. they are definitely very similar, but they are nice towns with beautiful scenery and solid schools systems.

I just came back from Korea and was shocked that kids were taking the bus alone and walking around the city. Every kid has their own cell phone to reach parents and yet somehow are all very well behaved.

Uh I vividly remember biking and or walking everywhere back at that age. Ridgefield biking from the fox hill condos where my family lived to like the gas stations or pizza hut... And I wasnt that much if a bike rider either. You just sort of did it. Traffic isn't that difficult to avoid. No one batted an eye and this was like 1999 or 2000 something like that. Not THAT long ago. What the hell is going on with that town. Fairfield county is just kids allowed to be kids what the hell is up with killingly

hyper limited zoning is really going to destroy any attempt at social equity. It’s not like municipalities are going to have a sudden change of heart just because a social equity applicant wasn’t able to make moves before fine fettle or curaleaf gobbled up whatever was available. If they only want two retailers in town, then there’s only going to be two.

Wrong place at the wrong time? We are talking about minor disciplinary issues, like speaking out of turn, being distracting, etc. These are not bad kids, and these issues don't mean they have bad parents or role models. it's normal child behavior. Punishing normal child behavior by taking away their one outlet to blow off steam during the day is just asking for more issues. It is completely counter-productive and frankly, stupid.
No one is saying "don't punish bad behavior." we are simply saying that this particular punishment doesn't work and is in fact making things worse.

I grew up in the suburbs of Western MA.
In 1980 at 5 years old, I was walking 5 blocks to school and back.
By 1983, after school I was walking 2+ miles in the OTHER direction after school to one of my parent's businesses, which included traversing the center of a town of ~25k people.
1984, I was riding my bike 2.5 miles to my little league game, another 2.5mi afterward to get ice cream with the team, and ANOTHER 2.5mi after that to get home, usually well after dark on a BMX bike with no lights and no helmet. The 2nd and 3rd legs had to go through the center of town as well.
By the time high school rolled around, instead of taking the bus I would bike 7 miles to school in a neighboring town, followed by another 2.5mi after school to the other parent's business to work. Bike would then be tossed in the back of the van for the ride home. It was also nothing to take 15-20 mile rides without a second thought.

I'd like to read a news story about this that isn't written by someone who heads a nonprofit specifically designed to support the "Free Range Kids" movement, but this story sounds really, really stupid and both the cops and social workers look really, really bad. Yikes.
