The problem with GI docs these days is they’ve all sold their souls to big corporate medicine. DDA is Gastro Health now. CDC is their own conglomerate. It is happening with all medicine these days. It sucks to be a patient. Just like the big box home improvement stores that pushed out the little hardware stores, corporate medicine has pushed out (or gobbled up) the little practices. So now we get mass call centers, people who don’t care, billing that’s a Charlie Foxtrot, and docs who only work a few days a week and have lost their zest for medicine.

Any neighborhood of SFH's in Columbia is going to be pretty quiet. The bigger concern is being in the flight path of BWI departures and arrivals, but it hasn't affected our toddler's sleep. Bonus points for neighborhoods tucked a little beyond major roads.

All of the neighborhoods are relatively quiet. Even though Columbia is technically a city, aside from Merriweather, it’s fairly quiet at night. You’ll hear a little more noise around the village centers or in shopping areas, but not a lot.

With your budget, you should be able to find a SFH in a quiet neighborhood pretty much anywhere in Columbia.

I used CWC in Fulton for my first, and would not use them again if I choose to have a second. While the care during my pregnancy went overall great, and they helped deliver a healthy baby, my hang up is with what happened during delivery. They performed an episiotomy without telling me…and did not say anything until I asked for details after. I know I signed something saying they could perform any procedure needed in an emergency, but it was not an emergency situation. Regardless, it would have been nice if there was some communication during the delivery with what they were about to do.

The worst part of turkey frying is the cleanup. Have a plan for the oil.

Every time I fried, I was the only one out on the cold lawn in the dark trying to get the oil managed and everything else cleaned up. So I stopped doing it, and now I smoke the turkey.

That being said, the tail on a fried turkey is amazing.

And the same can be said for Jacky. The two least transparent candidates got the most votes. Jacky is clearly tied tightly to Ball because she really did the bare minimum and her resume is filled with holes. I bet we see her side hustle training classes show up in our schools shortly and prepare to have kids bused all over the county. Oh and if we are really lucky, her A/B day virtual idea will pass to combat overcrowding and our kids will be back on our couches part time.

Thank you for posting this. I just read this and was about to post too. It appears to be a counterpoint of sorts, I suppose.

This piece basically just smears the author without covering the main issue at hand: the CA board is a mess.

The blogger ‘defends’ her friend but the blog barely covers the utter ineptitude of the CA board.

She also pulls in the Rouse Project for a smearing, which has literally nothing to do with the almost-evil ineptness of the board—except that the people involved with the RP were trying to run against these ethically-ambiguous, doddering old white folks.

Like, feel free smear shit everywhere if you want to, blogger-lady, but maybe you should cover actual issues too.

Edited to add: someone DMed me to say that this blogger is paid by inner arbor. What a goddamned mess.

I'm not very knowledgeable in how transparency of an HoA vs actual incorporated town or city is, but I wonder if it's time Columbia be incorporated into an actual town or city?

Incorporated towns/cities are rare in Maryland, but I have lived in one in Maryland and in other states, and information seemed to be visible.

Here's an article I found from almost 30 years ago: https://www.baltimoresun.com/news/bs-xpm-1994-10-05-1994278199-story.html
