  1. Depends. Very expensive, high cost of living, politicized schools.

  2. Community was better but getting worse with time. Similar to laurel

  3. Avoid the area around the mall.

  4. See above, politicized

  5. Rockville is probably a 45 min commute with rush hour

6.People aren’t nearly as friendly as they are in central PA. Stores barely have employees. Lack of culture

  1. Overpriced for no reason. Bad food options. Trending downwards

We tend to go with whichever is available, I particularly like the main vets (Carroll H) kids, Julie and Heath, because I think they have the best “bedside manner” and they’re a lot less businesslike for my dog. Not saying anyone else is bad, I just like them the most. Their front staff is great, I just wish they were expensive, not EXPENSIVE.

Cat & Dog Hospital gets me vote. One of their vets saved my elderly cat during a hypoglycemic episode and care has been excellent for all my pets.

For me it was New Years Monday, I had taken my dog to the er for the 2nd time in 20 days, and the 4th visit in 30 days. I haven’t eaten all day, stressed and was already with stomach issues. Went at 11:30pm before My dog was to be discharged. there was only one car, had to wait 15 min for food, which was wrong and missing much. Terrible experience for a empty McDonald’s and never going backZ

Tbh, that McDonald's has kinda a special place for us. We stopped there after one of the last vet visits our sweet old lady had before she crossed the bridge. I got her special treat, a plain hamburger, which they got right. It made an old lady's day, I think she savored every bite.

you may want to spend some time looking into VCA ( and Banfield ) and their particular brand of healthcare. Some people think these large corporate vets have a tendency to over treat to hit financial quotas. I, for one, was suspicious when Banfield recommended an oxygen tent treatment for several hundred dollars to treat a mild UTI in my dog.

Hey. I live in the TenMFlats complex next to the Mall. Walking to HCC is easy and my apartment is very quiet. The apartment itself is very pretty and modern. That being said, management can be hit or miss, and every once in a while the fire alarm can go off. Some people have had issues with breakins with their cars. The people that live here are super nice. I have some mixed feelings, but on the whole I'm very happy I'm here.

Dr. Parrish at Hickory Ridge Animal Hospital is the best vet I've ever been to. I have 3 elderly pets with chronic illnesses, so I am a frequent flier at her practice. She explains things very well, and lays out treatment options and her professional opinions in a way that is accessible and without undue pressure. When referring out to specialists, she always recommends great doctors and goes to bat to make sure the referrals are processed in a timely manner. She genuinely cares about her patients, and is overall a stellar human being.

While I would say HRAH is very responsive, they are not an emergency vet office. They do triage patients in regards to urgency, but if you need care ASAP, I recommend the Pet ER on Old Columbia Rd. As far as ER vets go, they are reasonably priced, compassionate, and knowledgeable.

Really?? I'm sorry to hear you didn't have a great experience with them! We worked with Linda as well. We weren't on a deadline so I didn't notice that aspect. That's definitely a bummer!! Reflecting on the experience, I suppose we didn't have much communication after placing the order until it was time to pick it up. That's good for others to know to be wary about deadlines/turnaround time with them!

We take our dogs to the cat and dog hospital of Columbia. We've been very happy with him over the years, and their care has been great.
