Look, this is a stupid idea, but it is adjacent to a smart idea. Maybe you should go talk to the mods at some other neighboring cities and ask them what they do to be successful. Ask them about what rules they set for their members, what rules they set for their mods, and how they go about establishing effective leadership. Running a functioning sub isn't a mystical secret - lots of people manage it just fine.

How many years has this sub been active? And without a dramatic hiccup stirred up by a bunch of whiny cycling enthusiasts hellbent on living life with a victim complex? Nothing you do in terms of a moderator change will appease these folks.

One thing i forgot to add, for kid #2 we were suggested to go to MGH, because we were not as young and there were some risks.

As I wrote, it’s not as luxurious as Mt Auburn, and kinda massive, but our second was born perfectly well and without hiccups or broken equipment.

If Mt Auburn is an Audi: pretty but spotty quality then MGH is a Toyota: sturdy but reliable

Thanks. I appreciate the thoughtful response. I am really angry that a handful of bad actors basically got the mod to resign by encouraging brigading (linking to other non-Cambridge subs for the purpose of controlling the narrative) over a single issue. Hence the downvotes on anyone who shows any support for the mod or questions the brigadiers'' motives.

Really the best way to deal with this is to just wait them out, but I guess the mod didn't want to deal with it.

Don’t worry about it. I sincerely doubt that anyone here actually cares. They’re just piling on because the Internet loves a mob. I mean, it probably wasn’t a great idea to ban people, but nobody’s life was meaningfully affected by your actions.

Had a great experience at Mt Auburn this summer with our first. Labor and delivery was not easy but we had an amazing on-call OB, great nurses, and the hospital was very accommodating to our doula.

Our girl wound up needing to stay an extra couple days with jaundice and the maternity team was equally wonderful. The food is…fine, but Otto’s and a bunch of other places will deliver.

Careful spelling out the "b word" on this sub. It can get you banned.

I'd argue there isn't really a high intensity bcycle argument. There is a high intensity anti-bcycle argument. The conversation generally goes something like this:

  • Hi, I would like to get to work/school/grocery without getting smooshed plz
  • Ha ha lolz I fantasize about running over spandex clad [insert your slur of choice]
  • Can we not do the whole murder thing?
  • Aaaarg why are b*cyclists so mean to me! Help help, I'm being oppressed!

As to how it became a culture war, I'm not really sure. Most people riding their b*kes are just having a good time. I think to people like our beloved moderator, seeing that is an afront to their way of life. They're absolutely miserable in their cars, and angry that some people aren't. But who knows. I ride the forbidden mode of transit, so my opinion doesn't matter here 🙄

Wait wait wait. You banned everyone who said the b word because we should be "working together to listen and solve problems." Help me understand the logic there.

For christ sake I'm afraid to type out the b word for fear of retaliation! How is that "working together to listen and solve problems?" How can a community function when one side of a conversation wields ultimate power to silence all opposition?

While I certainly disagree with your frankness when referring to them, I can atleast appreciate you are willing to have a discussion on the matter.

The frankness also doesn't really matter if you don't become a mod as you seem to imply you wont (who am I to silence you if your words don't hold power). Just make sure to keep to your quest of an honest good faith discussion and I'm sure things will turn out well.

(notably not starting of with ad hominems, sorry for the dyslexia again, would help in that regard.)
