I just bought the Fly London Medi boot, which is one of their most popular styles. Super comfortable, waterproof, and the style you are looking for. Highly recommend.

I only know this because I have one of their wallets which I love, but Mitchell leather makes custom briefcases, will last a lifetime, and their custom ones are like $1900, so actually within your budget somehow.

I bought a pair of Roots mittens at the beginning of last winter, they are still almost as good as new this year. I am super picky about gloves but I love these. They work great as a casual wear mitt.

Broadly, if something is supposed to absorb a destructive energy in order to protect something else (eg. bike helmets, surge protectors, ballistic armor), it should be considered compromised upon such use until it can be replaced or inspected by an expert.

Please stop. You think a $1000+ briefcase is silly. We get it...you are so edgy....now realize that some people have the budget to support or the desire. I spent $175 customizing a jacket this week at the tailor that 0 people will enjoy other than me. We all have things we spend money on for "no good reason", let us live our lives or let us know of your silly purchases to make fun of you eh?

I’ve got a grayish set of these from a Nepali/Tibetan shop.
Aside from wanting to sew the top of the pinky finger shut, as that’s the only air leak I notice, they are excellent.
Also, they aren’t deep freeze warm, because of the mitten cap and air.

Lamy for the pen. They are known for fountain pens, but if that is not your thing they do also offer rollerballs and ballpoint. You can use their refills or a converter, which will allow you to use any bottled fountain pen ink. They have a variety of price points and are made in Germany.

I mean, it seems like the most responsible thing to do. I can make sure it's sourced um, well, or however one picks proper yarn.

We that's half solved. Now you'll need to find some really high quality yarn. You might have to take a trip to Ireland and procure some.;p

Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 1,198,452,295 comments, and only 233,754 of them were in alphabetical order.

That's so frustrating when you think you stepped up to pay more for something nicer and it's even worse.
