Reply to Could someone recommend an air purifier that doesn't need the filters thrown out and changed? I am willing to clean them of course! I have BAD allergies and 3 cats so it needs to work well in medium size areas. by Relaxandbreath
May be you can choose the air purifier with a washable pre-filter and clean your room regularly : )

That's a heck of a review for those packs! I've heard people like the Mystery Ranch bags but I don't have any personal experience with them. After reading what you wrote I'm inclined to take a serious look. The Tac Tailors seem solid as well; I'd never heard of them until I posted the question. Much appreciated! Super helpful!

Quite frankly I'd look for a maker on Etsy or your local knitting/quilting club. I just don't see you finding genuine wool mittens commercially.

Knew a couple guys when I was in the military who used Eberlstock. Very nice bags, especially if you want to use it to holster your rifle as you walk, but they're pricey.
I have 2 mystery ranch bags and they're fucking bulletproof, but again pricey. Literally fell down an entire mountain, falling 5 feet getting back up and then falling again moving like 7k' elevation because I packed horribly and we were on shale, in Afghanistan and the thing is still intact. Straps are almost blown out from that, but I've heard they're very good at repairing stuff if it's needed (but could be wrong on that, have never had to do it myself). My other one I got for free on a mission from some officer that liked me and I used it on a shit ton of missions, through college after getting out, a ton of hikes, and still use it on the mountain and to hold weights when I work out. Thing is still in super good condition. If I was getting a smaller pack again, I'd go with the Mystery Ranch Rats Pack, just because I know how well they're made.
If I was getting something larger, and didn't need or want a holster, I'd go Tactical Tailor. My bigger Mystery Ranch bag is strong as hell, but I don't like how it can't be synched down closer to the body, which can throw off balance if the pack isn't fully filled (and was part of the reason I fell down a whole mountain with it). The Tac Tailor MALICE packs are just incredibly strong, shit can be synched, and super modular. If some shit does end up breaking, you can always buy a small replacement (not sure how their returns work, could be good or bad idk) and be back in the game instead of having to buy a whole pack.

Me three haha, bookmarked to see what folks say ;)
I even bought a pair of pretty expensive alpaca convertible mittens, but the weave is too loose and you can feel the breeze right through 'em on a cold, balmy day.

No joke. Yes it’s a deadhead hippie type store, but they’re hand knit and check ALL the boxes. I have some.

Last time I bought a briefcase it was like $50 from TJ max. It looked fine. Black, looked like leather, combination lock, latches worked, handle didn’t fall off when I picked it up. I still have it in my closet 30 years later and it still works so it definitely qualifies as BIFL. I had no idea people were spending $2000 on a box to carry papers around in.
I’ll sell it to you for $1000. You can use the remaining $1000 in your budget to buy a pen and some binder clips.

I got a great pair at a convenience store about 20 years ago... still going strong for less than $10. I have found similar wool gloves with fleece lined mittens toppers at Walmart in the hunting/camping/outdoor section. Always for men- so they may be a little big for women.
Of course, 20 years ago quality was just better, so not sure how long a modern pair would last. ☹

Me too! I’m looking for a pair for work. Many years ago I purchased a pair made from alpaca wool and deerskin leather (palms) that were wonderful quality, but I ended up losing one. I think they were made by Auclair. I haven’t seen them since.

If you use an antiseptic mouthwash (i.e, like Listerine and it's generic equivalents) you can soak your toothbrush head in the mouthwash for 15 minutes each week to totally disinfect it and get rid of any bad taste on it.
