That’s not a bad thing at all. It makes sure that if you overload the mixer, it’s a small easy part to replace than an entire more. The older kitchenaids have a plastic fail gear too—I’ve replaced them.

As a teacher, the best gift is make an effort to go in and see the teacher and say thank you, and why your child liked the class, seen a lot of improvement etc. That is memorable.

I know this post is a little stale but I had a McMurdo parka when I lived in Edmonton, AB, Canada. It was my go-to parka for anything colder than -20 centigrade but anything warmer than -15 and it was too much. It was very durable and looked pretty much brand new after 5-seasons before I donated it. I didn’t like wearing it very often however because of it’s bulk and low end finishing. For just shear warmth and durability it’s excellent though.

Transmission fluid is for automatics, not manual gearboxes.

Nice! We keep ours on the counter, tucked in a corner. It gets regular use for muffins and pancakes/waffles, so taking it in and out of a cupboard would be a hassle for us, too. Here’s to another 40 years!

I wouldn’t buy her a work-related gift unless she has explicitly told you that she wants one. Get her something for her, something she wouldn’t necessarily buy for herself or something outside of the normal budget for everyday things.

I got 2 zoji for over 3 years. Lately I thought, maybe Stanley would fare better. After a week I am thinking returning Stanley back because there is night and day difference.

One thing I've been hearing about is microplastics in Teflon, and that even a small scratch in the surface can be an issue.
But, I'm not a paranoid health-nut, so I use them for stuff anyway.

Didn't anybody ever tell you that Lodge Cast Iron is perfectly seasoned straight from the factory?!? They use their special proprietary techniques that will make an egg slide straight off of the surface, even if that surface is rougher than 40 grit sandpaper!

Zojirushi products that are made in Japan, not China are high quality builds. Great design. Good materials. Just very well made. I have rice maker and a hot water kettle by them. I found them both 2nd hand in Thrift Stores.
