This seems like something for your local sub. You don't even mention what country you are in, let alone province/state/territory. I don't think telling you about great appliance stores on Vancouver Island is going to help ya much if you have to fly here to buy a washing machine.

Also those Speed Queens beat the crap out of my clothing back in the day. If having a BIFL washing machine causes me to have to go clothes shopping more often that is no deal!

Depends on the grade(s) she teaches.

Primary? A rocking chair for the room if she doesn’t have one.

Intermediate? A microscope or a really good world atlas she won’t have to share with the library (atlas isn’t bfl, but it’s good for 6 years or so).

Secondary? Stanley travel thermos or something specific to the courses taught.

Lazy Boy couch and loveseat. Bought them new. Heard that the brand was good for longevity. Now they are less than 4 years old. The couch sags in the middle. It makes a knocking sound when you sit there. One of the couch arms is crushed in. It's where I usually sit, but a couch should hold up better. A couple buttons on the loveseat are hanging. The arm of the loveseat feel lose. I avoid leaning on it because it feels like the whole thing might fall apart.

I spent a lot on this furniture and I'm not in a position to be able to replace it. I am so disappointed in Lazy Boy.

It actually depends on which model you get, and the plastic one also has advantages (if it breaks, its a sub $10 part, if the metal gears go its basically junk). As far as i know, the lift bowl pro models have metal gears. (Also they started using nylon gears in the 70s, better off with 90s or newer as they reinforced with kevlar).

I know this is a week old but likely you aren't using good beans.

Check out red bird espresso, it's freshly roasted and is damn good in the breville. The breville is tricky as it's harder to dial in like other espresso machines. My next one will be a manual press.

Excellent, looks like the K5SS. I have a K5A myself - the newer SS's are somewhat easier to get parts for still. As others have mentioned it's not a bad idea to tear into it and replace the grease (and gasket). It's an afternoon job and will give that mixer a new lease on life for $20.

You'll also be able to get under the trim ring and seams where the castings meet and give it a very satisfying deep clean!
