A crossover. Honda CRV hybrid as they are experienced Honda owners. The Accord is the new old folksmobile, but the CRV has more body around it and is safer in an accident.

Or the outlets if you live near one. I just picked up a vintage handmade 100% Cashmere coat for $1.49/lb. Steal.

Yeah our auditor prefers the actual tape instead of printed excel (I’ve tried I’m over it it’s fine) plus I feel like a pianist lol

Nice looking but have my doubts.
The knockoff one I got fell apart quickly

I have no S&B home, not really "camping" though
and nothing is "collectible", each item curated as I go and well cared for.
I apologize for assuming the BIFL philosophy and goals were left as implied.
What I am truly looking for is a small sturdy reliable pepper grinder with great longevity.

Go to a thrift store. There's loads of wool overcoats there that have outlived their original owners and just need a dry clean. $40 tops.

Have you looked at SchottNYC? One of their BIFL staples is their Melton Pea Coat, which they also sell in a knee-length for $550.

They sorted both those out

Right off the bat, I'm going to point out a red flag about the coat you've attached: the shell has some undisclosed amount of polyamide. This doesn't make it bad per se, but I wouldn't want to spend $400 on it either. I have a winter overcoat that is 60% wool, 40% poly, but I also got it for $95 on sale.
As a general note, I would look at fabric weight. Anything in the mid to high 20s is going to be a true winter coat, ideally made of Melton wool. Pure wool is going to run you into the 400s and above, but is absolutely worth it as an investment.
For your needs, I would recommend taking a look at Schott--they have a bridge coat that is within the higher end of your budget. Not sure if you mean NYC for New York (although its been aggressively mild here this year), but they do have a store in Soho.

You do you, but I lose stuff when I go camping. I'm not taking any prized collectibles with me!
And BTW your post could have been more specific as to what you were truly looking for...

Yes I realize all that.
Asking a specific question here.
Not a camping thing specifically, looking for a fine product, ideally a thing of beauty.
This is BIFL after all, and throwaway plastic is the opposite of that afaiac

Why not take the McCormick black peppercorn grinder with you, just as it comes from the grocery store? It even comes with a dust cap. Not much larger than the 1" you wanted, and pretty inexpensive.

oil changes are a scam
I knew a guy in college that got a Nissan Altima and drove it 45,000 miles with the OEM oil. So I'd recommend that.

Computer keyboards aren't optimized for 10-key data entry. The operations don't fall naturally to hand in the same way.

Hi u/imzeigen, my wife and I are 70 and drive a 2021 Honda Pilot with nav and entertainment center (which plays CD's or blu-ray). When you insert a CD it starts playing, real simple. It does have the center screen though. We aren't technology shy. We've had great service life from our Hondas and Acuras. As an alternative to BIFL, Honda leasing in some cases will get them out of the vehicle before any major maintenance is required, like new tires. We leased a very basic Acura through a nationally advertised promotion previously for a great price. You likely would be unable to put in an aftermarket cd player though, so a more upscale model with an entertainment system will be required, which would likely be bundled with navigation system too. I miss our Element, Civic, Fit, and the Prelude 2 seater we had 40 years ago!

Think of it this way,
If a piece of equipment can last a week in a commercial kitchen, it can last years in a home kitchen.
If it can last more than a year in that environment?
Then you're in BIFL territory
Often times, they perform better and are easier to clean and cheaper as well
