You don’t even need to calculate anything manually to do basic personal income taxes.

Just get him another old Toyota or Honda. No sense in destroying a newer car with lack of maintenance.

Haha no, all from my lovely wife.
Smol, regular size (for everyday cooking) and a long boi for the grill.

Which fridge?
Also, when it comes to refrigerators there have been such advancements in efficiency that even 3-5 years you'll still save money on a new one. Which is my focus in BIFL, buy it good once or cheap over and over.

Their tomato knife is one of my favorite things that I own. I didn't know they made vegetable peelers - I'll have to go check that out.

Interesting take. I bought the most expensive fridge for quality. 3 years later it stops cooling. I called to have it repaired and was basically laughed at and told 3-5 years is about right for a fridge. Meanwhile my 30 year old olive colored one in the basement still purrs like a kitten.

Woolrich. I regularly wear a Woolrich parka bought by my dad in Chicago in 1982. He wore it every winter until 1987, on ski trips four times a year for 13 years, gifted it to me when I moved to the northeast US in 2006, and I've worn it ever since. Aside from popped buttons and mending the cuffs, it's still going strong and warm as ever.

This might be a “buy it for life” since it will likely last many years to come (as will damn near every NES console that’s ever existed, especially with a cheap new pin connector), but is it “use it for life”?

I was never wrong about it.
I don't agree with Xiph resampling everything to 48k. Their reasoning is so it makes embedded platform much lower computation as they only support 48k, but that effectively pigeon holes Opus, unfairly, as a telephony codec only.
When I last did an audio codec efficiency shootout at virtually lossless quality, using a wide range of music that I resampled to 48k using SoX VHQ (so it was apples to apples), Opus basically won; in a 44.1khz native shootout, Opus was still near the top.
I did that shoot out about a decade ago. Opus was already in use as the internet's telephony codec by then, as all the popular platforms already switched to it as it was technically superior.

Other way around, this is what consumers demand. People have become less cost tolerant. They will buy crap if it's a buck cheaper. Companies that make long lasting stuff go out of business because no one buys their more expensive products. The rhetoric of planned obsolescence is blaming the wrong people.

No room for that. Imagine fitting a kitchen into a 7' * 4' space that depending on the time, also becomes part of the sitting and sleep space

I have a Kenwood hand blender. It has a bunch of attachments and is all the blender I ever needed. Much more compact than a counter-top sort. 100% reliable in 7 years or so.
