This is so funny to me, bc I just bought them to replace a super cheap pair I had for like 20 years and I hate them! I hate that you need to push/ pull out the tab to get them to lock/ release - my old pair did it with the flick of my wrist. Maybe I need to try these edlund ones?? I just want something that is all stainless w no plastic or wood or anything on them.

They're tongs...they don't have complicated engineering or a myriad of moving parts. I would argue that ANY tongs are BIFL.

I’ve been doing taxes for 25 years and not once did having/using this thing ever make sense

I bought the individual Global knives that I wanted and made a set. In hindsight, the chefs knife is used 85% of the time, a bread knife and paring knife get 5% and the rest barely get used.

Even if I didn’t tell them, they blocked off access to the cold water line- can’t get to it without a special tool only maintenance has. They did the same with the toilets because they didn’t want folks installing bidet attachments.

Thank you all. I think one of the musts to have is a CD. But I think most cars don’t have it. I think we saw a Mazda 2 2020 that still had it. I think we will end up buying something used. The Camry looked promising. Also thanks for the suggestion of the forester. I think that one had a cd player. But it went to the no list because it didn’t had a proper temperature sensor gauge.

Peugeot make the best pepper grinders and they last for ever and the grinder has a life time guarantee. I can’t comment on how well it would fit for your camping needs, but this little buddy looks like it would be good:

We have a pur to filter out the obscene amount of chlorine in our water. It works for that purpose, we bought the heavy duty lead filters. Our tap water is undrinkable, makes me gag.

Everything new is gonna pretty much have touch screen infotainment, unless you’re looking into some fleet vehicles (work trucks, vans, etc.). So if he wants basic, he’s going to need to buy used for sure.

i used to be in the cheap bread knife crowd, then bought a high end bread knife when i was visiting Japan on time, and it is not only my go to bread knife, but I also use it for slicing tomatos (and other vegetables), as it does so incredibly finely.

My uncle had one of these for his business and he would get after me and my cousin for playing on it and messing up his numbers 😂

I believe Mauviel and All Clad are in the same price and performance category but I prefer the feel of Mauviel, especially with the cast iron handles.
They go on sale pretty often.

Not sure, I don’t see it either. I see the 200 series- that is probably good enough. I have the M250C which is 2.5mm. It is amazing with fish, omelettes, etc.

My Mom was an accountant and got hers sometime in the early 80's as well. She still uses it. I remember watching her use it, her fingers were so fast it was a blur, and when she stopped, it would take the printer several seconds to catch up.

Here's one for the road. Ready for the tax return apocalypse! I thought we'd used the whole bunch of them safe for 2 or 3, but then I found a whole stash under a shelf. Geez, some of these rolls are older than I am loll

Reply to Food processor, not too big by blaze1234
Food processors are inherently bulky. I have a Breville 16 cup I let it sit on a steel table full time rather than pulling it in and out. Thing is a beast. It’s good for dicing multiple potatoes, slicing a entire large block of cheese into shreds, making mayo, etc…

I’m a Henkels guy but they have really diluted their brand. Zwilling is top notch and basically a direct competitor to Wusthof, anything else with the Henkels branding I’d avoid.

Yeah I'm gonna have to disagree on this one, most of the KitchenAid Stuff I've owned which was manufactured in the last fifteen years or so has been poor quality junk.

Every sub has circle jerkers, just cause they're excited about their shiny japanese knives doesn't make the curated recommendations bad.
This is the buyer's guide I was referring to for anyone interested, should have linked in the first place https://www.reddit.com/r/chefknives/comments/10gdofm/recommended_knives_flowchart_us_january_2023/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Not true. In fact I’m surprised by how shitty most tongs are for even household use. This is legitimately the first pair I’ve been able to use for more than a couple months. All others I’ve tried are garbage.
