thank you very much! :D I'll get this one then.

I'm not finding it available right now (europe) but at least I know which one to get.

Contrary to the posts here, most professional reviewers and consumers do not rate speed queen machines highly.
https://www.consumeraffairs.com/homeowners/speed-queen.html
“Well, Yale Appliance says that it sold 243 of these machines in 2018 and performed 65 service calls—a service rate of about 27 percent, which makes Speed Queen the most repair-prone brand that Yale Appliance has sold in any significant volume.”

Good quality wool can last decades with basic care. It’s not as stain resistant as some synthetics, but with fast attention most things other than ink etc will come out. I have successfully got red wine out of my bone coloured wool carpet - but I got to it before it dried.
Wool is has some incredible properties around moisture regulation, resistance to wear and crushing and resistance to picking up smells.
If you can afford wool, go wool or an 80% wool 20% nylon blend.

I’d prefer low end, the lower the better, but the problem I’ve noticed is they all have plastic as a point of weakness. I’ve gone though two in two years that use plastic in the handle and it just doesn’t handle daily boiling.

Thanks for the opinion. Im tempted, but I figured people would tell me if it's not worth it.

I bought an electric kettle and sent it back immediately. The water smelled like plastic/tires when heated. It was useless, and now I have a cheapo SS kettle because I'll probably start it without the whistle down and burn it up like I always do.

Thank you! I was pretty excited to find it. I've seen the stand in the Slocomb catalog I've got from the 1920s, but I never expected to actually see one.
It was pretty ratty when I got it, but I'm pretty chuffed with how it turned out.

My nana has one that is glass and I’m pretty sure Moses used it

That’s how I buy stuff, but it does have a downside.
Get ready to ‘not have a solution’ for x for a very long time. I dont own a lot, and i love it that way, and pretty much everything i own is ‘for life’ stuff. (With few exceptions)… but there are sooo many simple things that I still dont have because I’m always looking for the right thing, and I can’t stand wasting money on products in the meantime.
Given long enough time, yes I’m in the right… it made sense, but it’s also often fairly big purchases, so you are inflicting a lot of issues on yourself, not buying stand-ins.

Looks pretty old and banged up for that level of effort and gas money.

I get what you mean, and I used to have trifolds for similar reasons, but if you compare the number pockets to hold cards in trifolds vs bifolds, they’re usually pretty close (assuming you don’t have that clear window pocket that takes up a whole space). Just something to consider

Stovetop kettles provide a better flavour than electric. Not everyone can taste the difference but those that do will understand. If you really want something nice for coffee and tea, imo, a stovetop kettle is a big boost to the quality of your drink.
