I loved mine. Used it for years exclusively for chopping onions because I hate chopping onions with all the crying and cutting my finger off. I just threw mine out after 5 years and got a food processing type chopper that I will use instead now.

My Miele is 9 years old and works like the day I bought it. Not cheap though, but replacing every 3 years isn't cheap either.

I LOVE my Henry Petcare - I read extensively in the vacuum cleaners sub before buying and have 0 regrets.
I have hard floors in an apartment and a large oriental area rug - does fantastic on the rug with the turbo air nozzles and came with a smaller one for furniture.
Plus Henry is adorable.

Higher end vacuums (miele, sebo) are repairable and have real warranties. You can sometimes find lightly used or refurbished ones from dealers. Check the vacuums sub.
Edited to add: have you been changing the filters and cleaning out the brush heads on your current vacuum? That makes a huge difference.

I have had a Shark AZ2002 vacuum for over 2 years now and it is still running excellent. I did a lot of research on vacuums for pet hair.
I have two dogs and the vacuum has great suction even when the container is jam packed full of hair. It does a great job getting playdough and everything else from children as well.
It's also excellent on hardwood, low pile, and high pile Carpets and rugs, which I have a variety of. It has a selector mode for each.
I also use it to clean the interior of my truck and sedan as well, so sand, dirt, and dry mud go through it.
$380 range on Amazon when in stock.
I recommend it.

Have you tried the Dyson vacuums? I have an old upright one that I’ve had for a decade and it still sucks like a champ

The one that I have is the Osprey Kyte - I believe it’s women specific in size (I’m 5’3” for reference) and it fits me perfectly. The quality I’d say is pretty nice and definitely durable to last

Zwilling utility knife, 6 inch blade. I had one forever, the handle was cracked and the blade markings were worn off. I sent it to Zwilling, and they sent me back a new one.
I have an 8 inch; I just find the shorter blade more generally useful.

Your question is both good and bad. The real bad part of it is price and feel. $10,000 knives are a thing. And some $10,000 knives you won't like the feel of as some have an aversion to say round or hexagon shaped handles. The best idea is to go to a great knife store like a local kitchen supply or Williams Sonoma and test drive them live. Once you try a MAC chef's knife and like it, run it though the search engine and see what BIFL thinks of it.
The cheap king is a Victorinox 8" chef knife from amazon.

Try Amana. A 25 year old GE washer quit on me five years back. Amanas are fairly inexpensive, have simple controls (all knobs, no displays), are American made if you’re in the US, and fairly durable. Aside from off-balance loads with lots of towels or blankets, I haven’t had an issue with mine.

- This is not a BIFL question as the run time on these devices is maybe 5 years.
- Every tracker can be used with a wallet, so if you are looking for a tracker, pick one.
- I wanted one 2 years back and went to 839 websites and 57 youtube channels and the clear winner was the Samsung SmartThings Tracker, which is around my dog's neck and other than 2 battery changes is fine even after daily attacks by my other dog. And by clear winner, I mean most likely to always provide location based on various sources of internet access. Maybe there's a new leader today though.

The standard answer is a chef's kinfe, but I'll also put out there that these people, who live on a small sailboat, recommend a chinese cleaver. https://grimgrains.com/site/tools.html#cleaver

Standard issue US Army medium rucksack. It's a newish addition to the issued gear and one of the few pieces of kit I was upset to part with when I left the service.
Alternatively, one of the old ALICE packs. I still have two--one was mine, one was my grandfather's.
