Reply to This is one of my Pendleton wool blankets. Any idea if this is fixable? Where/who might I look for locally to fix it? I just don’t want it to get worse. by lukeman3000
I second what most people are saying about sewing. But if you want to try something else, I've been pretty successful patching wool with needlefelting. I bought a small needle felting kit and patched a bunch of moth holes on my wool blanket. It's a very visible patch, but was fun to do.

True, but all the stuff that I do have was from before. And they're still maintaining their repair obligations.
I am talking about any new stuff that I have to buy.

Not trying to get all the answers from one person alone. Maybe one person has a thought on a fridge, another on this or that. Didn’t want to spam the forum with each thing I am looking at.

They were actually cheaper off Amazon for me. On the Thursday website you have to pay import tax which bumped the price up quite a bit. Also meant returns would be a nightmare, but thankfully I ordered the right size :)

That looks like a lot of work…you may get better responses if you pare it down or do some of your own research first instead of asking all of us to do it for you.

- avoid anything digitally controlled, avoid Samsung like the plague. fridges from the early 2010's are usually pretty energy efficient and wont be unrepairable when it breaks down.
- Mops are explicitly not buy-for-life. That's just nastly.
- No suggestion for the steam cleaner; never needed one. Use ammonia based glass cleaner for almost everything.
- Vacuums go bad; youre best off buying second hand and replacing when it breaks.
- top loaded, analog controlled washer and dryer; aim for from the early 2000's again. washers and dryers from that era are easy to work on and use generally interchangeable parts.
- whole-house water filters are borderline a scam imo.
- your central air system has a rather intense filter built into it; just make sure that puppy is clean and you should be dust free.

Yeah, I saw. A few factors lead to me not:
- Increased price.
- No Vanguard model.
- No seconds.
I've spent $200 on factory seconds Vanguards ($250 new). I figured, whilst I'm over there might as well!
Glad you like them!

You can get the some of the popular Thursday boots (Captain etc) on Amazon UK now FWIW. I’m no big boot wearer but had my Captains for a while and I think they’re great value for the price.

Nice. I normally pay around £40-50 for my 512s so might be worth seeing if I can get some cheaper ones. I'll be near Macy's as well!

*Used to make damn fine stuff. IMO since they've gained popularity they've clearly switched up to quantity over quality production. I have old pants and flannels from them that have lasted 6+ years. I have new pants and flannels that are less than 3 years old and look worse than my older items already.

I have a merino wool patagonia jacket that I love to death. Bought when I was 16 and had it almost 10 years. Warmest jacket for the weight I’ve ever owned. It was pricey but well worth it

Levi’s - not BIFL (no jeans are), but good quality. You can get Levi’s in Europe as well, but I understand that the prices are much much higher than buying them in the States. Hit up a department store like Macy’s and you should be able to get a pair on sale for $30 or less.

Their repair services are pretty solid. I had a 3/4 length puffer coat and the zipper failed after 10 years and they replace the zipper. I paid for the shipping to them but otherwise no additional costs.
