All of my suits are made to measure and it is absolutely worth it. For $400-$500 you have a garment that fits PERFECTLY, and that’s what makes it look good. A $100 jacket with $100 of tailoring will always look better than a $1000 off the rack.

It is however a skill and a profession so I would not recommend trying to make your own clothes unless you’re doing as a hobby rather than to have nice things.

Yeah I hate the fit of darn tough socks. My experience with them (in terms of wear) has been no better than smartwool, and smartwool socks fit so incredibly well. I love Stance socks too, as a running sock anyway. I have one pair that has about 500 miles of running on them and haven’t worn through yet.

US based here, so this may not be an option for you. I have a ordered a few dresses made to my measurements online from a place in India. For the price, it was only worth it for dresses for non-casual wear, but the fit and quality were amazing. I assume there is more than one place online that does this. They had a catalog of clothes online and you could customize things like sleeve length, collar, hem length.

100% of profit is different than 100% revenue. The owner donated the company to a trust and so all that profit that the company makes goes to the trust, and the trust is set up so that it’ll automatically pay out climate charities and stuff like that.

Edit: here’s the explanation in their words https://www.patagonia.com/ownership/

I have a bunch of patagonia items and they hold up great. I bought one lightweight jacket at Costco, and I don't think it was really made as well as other pieces I have -- the zippers on the pockets broke over one winter. Well, early in the spring i sent the jacket off to their repair shop and it came back at the end of summer with new pocket zippers and it's held up great this year. I had to pay for shipping there and back, but otherwise the repair was totally free!

There is no considered good material just like there is no considered good color for a car...its a personal preference. This is BIFL and in that vein, you can find stainless steel, titanium or carbon fiber chopsticks. There are no unsafe chopsticks.
