I second pacific coast feather! We have a blanket from them that my husbands mother bought him when he was in high school. It sees daily use still, just over 20 years later and is just as warm as ever. About 5 years ago we purchased blankets for our kids and with proper cleaning and use of a duvet cover we plan for them to last them many years.

I ask because we have a Roper washer and dryer. We bought them for around $450 each ten years ago. They're still plugging along. With four kids, we do plenty of laundry. I've had to replace the timer on the dryer, but it's still working perfectly. I had to take apart the washer to fish a baby sock out of the washer pump, but other than that, we've had no issues.

I've always kinda figured that if a repair at any point was going to cost close to the original purchase price, it would be time to buy a new one.

I like powdered detergent with these type of washers, more economical and they don't need all the dyes like liquid detergent has. I put it in the bottom so it dissolves as the washer fills. Only half a scoop for a large load unless the clothes are heavily soiled.

I have 2, a queen I got probably 10/12 years ago, love it, you can get ones meant for more mild winters or heavier winters. I got a king one when I lived in CA back in 2019 and had a king size bed. I love them both, and now being in MI they’re usually both on my bed in the winter. They definitely last, and I had one when I was much younger and the down migrated, but a lot of the newer ones(including both of mine) have stitching to prevent that or help reduce it.

I don't know what Fiskar claims to use as for it's fasteners, but mechanical points like that are always more susceptible to rust. Usually cleaning and oil will keep those components in working order indefinitely, as long as you keep up with it.
